I kid you not- I spent $40 on cards at Papyrus today.
I love cards. Granted, I used to be totally against Papyrus while considering it a competitor when I was an employee at The Custom Stationary Shop in Hinsdale, Illinois for four years, back in the day…but these days I often find myself in their stores with too many purchases piled into my arms.
Anyhow, I’ve long been a fan of Christmas cards. In fact, this December will mark over six years of making my own (Thank you, Julie Dalton). While time consuming and slightly expensive, I find utter joy in sending these cards to friends, family and colleagues.
But cards are good for so many more reasons, too! Your friend that needs a pick me up would SO appreciate a hand-written note that arrives in her mailbox rather than her e-mail or cell phone inbox. Your parent that’s done countless things for you and listened to your ups and downs a million times over, they still love the art of a hand-written note (and, like me, probably consider it a lost art!)
Birthdays, condolences, “I Love Yous,” Thank yous, holidays- you name it. Cards are the perfect way to say “I cared enough to take the time to buy, write, address, stamp and send this.”
And I almost forgot to mention that Papyrus carries some of the cutest cards on earth (hence the purchase of eight of ‘em today…! But, in all seriousness, you’ve been warned: they will induce compliments).
Head to your nearest Papyrus or shop online. And stay tuned to WIT & Whimsy for an entire post on the art of the hand-written note and the culture of stationery. Yes, I’m slightly obsessed.
