Once you pop you can’t stop

Once you pop you can’t stop

I admit it. I love to snack. It’s no secret. My desk drawer at work always overflowing with snacks to get me (and my lovely coworkers) through the day. While generally dominated by chocolate, on any given day I also have a bag of popchips tucked away in case I don’t have time to grab something and need something to tide me over.

What’s not to love about the popped goodness that comes in a variety of flavors. My favorite is salt and vinegar, but I’ve been told that many love the salt and pepper. Our friends at pop chips sent us a cute little care package recently that housed all the flavors – and we can certainly say we haven’t met a chip from this pop family that we don’t like. And the best part? One bag is only 100 calories. Still blows my mind. love without handles indeed.

Note: popchips just launched a fun campaign in which Ashton Kutcher, their “President of Pop Culture,” encourages fans to let everyone know what’s pop’n around them. Check out the video here, follow the tweets about it with the #whatpops hashtag and on the popchips blog here. Love it…now get popping.

Nina Garcia’s Look Book doesn’t disapoint

Nina Garcia’s Look Book doesn’t disapoint

Nina Garcia is a household name when it comes to fashion as style director at Marie Claire and longtime Project Runway judge, and now she has released her fourth book: Nina Garcia’s Look Book, What to Wear for Every Occasion.

Already owning three of Nina’s previous books (and having a high opinion of her advice from The One Hundred and The Style Strategy), I was glad to be able to get an advance copy and I can tell you this book is just as good as the others.

Offering practical advice for every occassion you may find yourself in, from what to wear on a blind date or to a big meeting and what to wear on errands and what to wear when traveling, Ms. Garcia details how to dress for the right audience and also what rules to break.

The book is sprinkled with wise words from other fashion icons and designers and also includes styling tips for your hair and even bits of lifestyle advice.

Unlike the designers that grace her wardrobe, Nina’s book is totally affordable on Amazon at $16.

Refinery29 gives a behind the scenes look at one Madewell gal

Refinery29 gives a behind the scenes look at one Madewell gal

If you read WIT & Whimsy often, you know we are huge fans of J.Crew. Well it just so happens we’re also fans of their kid sister, Madewell. Which is exactly why were psyched to see one of our favorite sites, Refinery29, give a behind the scenes look at the home of Madewell’s market director extraordinaire, Gigi Guerra.

Not surprisingly, Gigi is just as chic and unique as the brand for which she works. We’re also eager to see how others live and also have a sweet spot for interior decorating. We highly recommend checking out the piece over at Refinery29.

Toasting to Girls Weekend in Vegas: Laguna Champagne Bar

Toasting to Girls Weekend in Vegas: Laguna Champagne Bar

So we’re still recuperating from our best Vegas trip yet, but as we resurface into the land of the living we had to share some of the details of our girls weekend. Thanks to the lovely folks at The Palazzo we were able to experience the best of the best, starting off with a celebratory toast to the weekend at the Laguna Champagne Bar. Centrally located on the casino floor, we were able to take in the sights and the sounds from the comfort of the lounge.

Since we “strategically” planned our trip to coincide with March Madness, we were able to take in some of the Thursday night games while we sipped our cocktails….speaking of which,  the bubbly concoctions were amazing. We love ourselves some bubbles, but these set the bar high for the weekend as they were fun and inventive – each of us was raving about our individual cocktails. If you go – you have to try the Flower Eclipse (elderflower goodness) or Art Nouveau (strawberry pureed sweetness). An added bonus? the array of olives and wasabi peanuts we snacked on while we sipped.

Loved it – great start to the weekend…

Jill and Mary - two of our favorites!

Godiva brings the chocolate factory to your home

Godiva brings the chocolate factory to your home

Hello chocolate heaven! For the past week our home has been filled with a delicious and rich scent of Godiva chocolates. No, we haven’t become closet chocolatiers. We’ve been gifted by Godiva with one of their brand new candles and we’re in love.

Inspired by their famous hand-made chocolates, Godiva has created a home fragrance collection that brings the scent of their decadent treats sans the calories. Genius.

We’ve been enjoying the Peppermint Bark candle that features characteristics of both dark and white chocolates marries with bourbon vanilla and crushed peppermint essence.

If you’re in need of a last minute gift this should be it! The 7oz candle features 55 hours of burn time and retails for $22.50. Pick one up at Neiman Marcus or other major department stores and online candle retailers.
