Love us some Joseph Cozza salon

So this past February we went back to be a blonde, blonde, blondie and this week will once again be going to see our favorite colorist of all time, Lee Brock at Joseph Cozza salon here in San Francisco. We’ve have been going to Lee for nearly three years and followed him to his gig at Joseph Cozza because he’s just that good.

Joseph Cozza recently moved locations and their new spot on Maiden Lane is gorgeous. You’ll feel pampered and relaxed and get the very best service. While their fees can be a bit higher than we like to pay, their work is of the very highest caliber and Lee’s work is so good that you can often allow your highlights to go for a couple of months before needing a serious touch-up. The way we figure, that makes the price totally worth it versus going to some less expensive salon where you’ll find yourself needing to be back in the chair every six weeks just to maintain your locks’ looks.

If you’re looking to get a better price, we highly recommend checking out Joseph Cozza for their training days where they look for models for their trainees to try out the latest styles and techniques. You can get a hair cut for FREE and color services for an incredible $30. Amazing, right?

So  fashionistas need to book themselves into this sanctuary of a salon if you’re looking for a better colorist, new look with a fresh cut or a variety of cosmetic, nail or spa services. Locations are across the Bay Area so check out their contact page to see if you’re lucky enough to have one near you! Or, if you’re in San Francisco, call and book an appointment with Lee. He’s uber-fab.

Prouducts we love: Moroccanoil

We love when we find beauty products that have that instant-gratification, love at first use factor. The Original Moroccanoil Treatment is one of those products without a doubt.

Sweeping beauty editors and gals across the country alike, this ultra light oil restores the shine to your hair, strengthens and conditions and even reduces drying time. This is otherwise known as: a godsend.

We’re also dying over Moroccanoil’s Restorative Hair Mask that is the most delicious smelling thing we’ve ever had the opportunity to slather onto our strands. It practically takes you from the shower to the tropics if you just close your eyes for the 7-10 minutes the product takes to sink into your hair.

Here’s a great tip: When prepping your hair before blow drying, mix the Moroccanoil Treatment with the Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream and work it through your hair from roots to ends to give your hair strength and hold while keeping it soft and shiny.

Remember how stunning Emily Blunt looked at the amFAR benefit at Cannes? Well her fierce George Chakra gown and bright red lips were joined by soft waves created using all Moroccanoil products.

Many thanks to Moroccanoil for sending a bag of their goodies that we’re just totally smitten with!

Check out the entire catalog of crazy good products here!

Get the Look: Amy Adams' Chignon

Get the Look: Amy Adams' Chignon

There are many times we wish we had a personal stylist upon whom we could call to get the perfect outfit, the prettiest up-do and the fresh, dewy makeup look. Alas, woe is us. Not really though :) Especially when we can have experts like hair stylist to the stars, Moulay Yacoubi provide us tops on DIY hair looks!

New York’s exclusive Pierre Michel Salon just re-located to a gorgeous, 10,000 sq. ft. loft location and better yet, the salon is offering a 20% discount to celebrate the new launch now through March 31st, 2010!

Moulay is one of the best hair stylists out there and also recently served as a judge on Bravo’s hit hair competition “Shear Genius.” Moulay’s work has graced the cover of major magazines in both Paris and the U.S. He has styled many celebrities that we adore including Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Aniston and Amy Adams.

Just in time for holiday parties and New Year’s eve, Moulay was kind enough to provide tips to WIT & Whimsy readers on how to achieve Amy Adams’ gorgeous chignon seen here that she graced this past year’s Academy Awards for which she was nominated for her role in Doubt.

Check them out here! And send us a pic if you try the style- you could end up featured on WIT & Whimsy!

1. Wash hair and prep the hair with medium hold mousse.

2. Dry the hair, parting it to one side with a comb.

3. Comb through the top of the hair so that it is smooth and flat against the head.

4. Gather the hair into a low ponytail on the parted side and secure it with an elastic band.

5. Twist the ponytail into a loose bun and secure it with an elastic hairband the same color as the hair.

6. Using finger tips “fluff up” the top of the hair to add some volume.

7. Finish with a shine serum. (WIT & Whimsy recommends Bumble & Bumble defrizz serum seen here.)
