summer skincare essentials

Happy Monday, all! Summer is right around the corner and with it comes more bare skin. There’s no better time to get ahead and start giving your skin some much needed TLC to get it prepped and I’ve discovered some pretty great products to do just that.

  1. Rodin Olio Lusso Luxury Face Oil: I am IN LOVE with this oil. I have been using it for the past 3 weeks and my skin has never been so smooth, so hydrated. I was so nervous to put an oil of any kind on my face since my skin already is oily, but this product for some reason is not only a luxurious experience when put on each night, but it has only improved my skin’s texture. Seriously, if you are going to spend money on anything this month, make it this product. It is so amazing.
  2. Kate Somerville Exfolikate Body: I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this product truly, truly works. If you suffer from chest or back breakouts this will work to render them obsolete when used a 2-3 times a week. Bring on the strapless dresses!
  3. BareMinerals Tinted Moisturizer: In the summer I try to wear as little makeup as possible because otherwise it’ll just melt right off but this tinted moisturizer does double duty by providing SPF while moisturizing and providing light coverage so it is ideal. Swap out that heavy foundation and pressed powder and rely on this little guy.
  4. SkinCeuticals C+AHA: This lightweight serum is used right after you wash your face to wear all day as it works to neutralize free radicals, prevent environmental damage and has glycolic and lactic acids to subtly exfoliate to reveal smoother skin. I am newly in love with SkinCeuticals’ serums- I use this one at night as well.

Hope you all enjoyed a restful weekend as I did. Cheers to a new week!

Hi from San Francisco, friends and Happy Monday! A few skincare favorites I’ve been recently loving…

  1. SkinCeuticals Micro-Exfoliating Scrub: This is an effective yet gentle exfoliating scrub that will help soften skin without drying it. I switch off between this and Exfolikate.
  2. Kate Somerville Exfolikate Body: I anticipated great things for the Body version of my beloved Kate Somerville Exfolikate (read more here), and it totally fits the bill. It works to clear up any breakouts on my chest and back and will be a mainstay in my shower routine with the upcoming springtime and bikini seasons.
  3. Lancome Genefique Eye Light – Pearl: I’m always on the hunt for an eye cream that will work. In the morning I use this Clarins one religiously (it clears up puffy eyelids between the time I brush my teeth and I go to apply eye shadow-magical!) but at nighttime I use this Lancome one. I find it helps when I have dark circles cropping up and has a slight cooling affect. The application is a bit messy but the product is effective enough to get past that.

an afternoon at mario badescu

Before I jetted off to Miami, I had the opportunity to go to the Mario Badescu salon here in Manhattan for what I believe to have been the best facial I’ve ever received. Big claims, I know!  You’ve heard me rave about Mario Badescu’s products in the past (here and here) but I so enjoyed experiencing the facial because they are extremely clinical in their approach to their facials. Not to mention their European facial is priced at $65 (!). The extractions were performed so well and my skin was left feeling unbelievably clean and refreshed.

On a Sunday afternoon the place was packed with women getting facials and ordering product – you know they are doing something right. During my treatment, I experienced a new facial add-on known as The Gold Mask. It was heavenly. It’s infused with natural gold and pearl powder and works to tighten, tone, renew and illuminate your skin and it did just that. Unlike other facials where you leave sometimes feeling overly shiny or overly dry, my skin was rejuvenated and felt healthier than ever. A big thank you to Nicole at Mario Badescu for allowing me to experience what I had heard so much raving about.

Mario Badescu is located at 320 East 52nd Street. You can schedule your appointments by calling 212.758.1065.
