It's a VOGUE idea…

It's a VOGUE idea…

I love fashion and I love women’s magazines. In all honesty, I spent a good amount of my Sunday afternoon today going through many. The witty and fun articles, great recipes, beauty products and fashion spreads all make me happy.

Since the beginning, Vogue has set the platinum standard for fashion magazines across the world- bold, glamorous and forward-thinking, the magazine is iconic. Now you can satisfy your fashion craving with the book Vogue Covers. The book contains more than 200 images that were selected from Vogue’s extensive archive that let you drool over the artistry, the impeccable and lavish fashions and stunning jewelry. “Brilliant, captivating, and full of life, this is the face of the world’s most influential magazine and the original style bible,” says the book’s publisher. I’m thinking it should find a place on every WITs bookshelf promptly!

Designer Profile: Tory Burch

Tory Burch. Designer of classic, contemporary designs for the working WIT! Her designs are perfect for the WIT who wants to look polished and cute during the workday with a cute dress and bright, comfortable flats, or chic and casual with a tunic top and sandals for the weekend! Tory’s collections are similar to modern-day classics such as Ralph Lauren and Kate Spade: stylish pieces that can be for the most relaxed day zipping around town and meeting fellow WITs for lunch, to that perfect little dress for a summer cocktail party.

You may have noticed a lot of her designs are reminiscent of the 1960′s. Tory finds much of her inspiration from her favorite era, and designs her collection on the memories of her mother and father’s vintage looks from the ’60s and ’70s.

A little background on Tory:
  • Born in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania
  •

  • Tory’s past stints include such fashion dynasties as Ralph Lauren (no wonder we love her!), Vera Wang, and Harper’s Bazaar magazine
  •

  • One of Lance Armstrong’s many former flames

Way back when I remember dying to have a Kate Spade wallet and purse. I was far too young to actually have one, but the feeling of desire from that brand that exuded simple sophistication had overcome me. Today, my admiration for Kate continues, this time in a more normal sort of way as I can appreciate her style and whimsical designs that make accessories totally fun, yet elegant.

Kate Spade embodies those qualities of a WIT we all have or want. Plus, no WIT can deny that some of her favorites things in the world are bags, sunglasses, shoes and stationery. God knows I love them all (not in that order, but if you know me well I’m betting you could order them without hesitation!)

A bit more about Kate:

  • Back in the 80s Kate worked in the accessories department of Mademoiselle in Manhattan
  • In 1996, Kate Spade opened its first shop in New York City’s SoHo
  • Kate graduated from ASU with a degree in Communication (my kind of a girl!)
  • Kate’s lines have expanded past handbags to include other WIT necessities such as delightful dishware and lovely linens
