modman monday 07 : jewelry to covet.

Fragments, a Soho jewelry powerhouse showroom and boutique, hosted a press breakfast to unveil new collections and showcase staple designers. The breakfast was the right mix of fine jewelry fantasy and wallet-friendly fashion pieces. Here’s the rundown of my favorite showroom designers and pieces:

Rodrigo Otazu necklace – gorgeous statement necklace

Several Rodrigo Otazu pieces

Zippered pieces from Rodrigo Otazu

Beautiful Phillips Frankel cork necklaces to keep your special memories with you

A Dominique Aurientis piece I would love to work into my wardrobe!

Definitely keeping my eye on the Borgioni ring as a future purchase….

Second from left, green Yewn ring – if only..

Gem Kingdom – love the crowned helmet/skateboarded one, far right!

Anton Heunis, by far my favorite at the showroom

Another Anton Heunis piece

As you can see, Fragments as a wide array of fine and fashion jewelry. In addition to the showroom, Fragments has a boutique store in Soho. If you’re not in New York or don’t plan on visiting anytime soon, fragments.com has a great selection on their online store, including:

A stunning Anton Heunis

A wrist-envy worthy Trudelle Laker

A beaded Borgioni

K. Brunini Jewels Twig Rings, perfect for two-tone days! (I have many)

I spotted a few pieces that men could wear (Gem Kingdom, Dominique Aurientis and Borgioni, Chan Luu, K. Brunini Jewels, and Luigi Laguna, among others). I’ve definitely been spoiled by my visit.. a stop by the boutique is in order. Be sure to check them out as you update your fall wardrobe!

There’s nothing more elegant than touches of gold jewelry to add sophistication to an ensemble (it’s also why I always end up wearing this watch as it creates the same effect, but is essentially effortless.) I’m in love with these Bing Bang bangles here. We’ve warned you about some “gold” jewelry though so pick carefully.

iDo: Tiffany gives engagement ring shopping the Apple treatment

iDo: Tiffany gives engagement ring shopping the Apple treatment

This post is brought to you by the darling Virginia from Lovely20s.

Tiffany & Co. just released a new application called the Engagement Ring Finder that pretty much blew me away. As an avid iPhone user, I am always on the lookout for useful apps and this definitely ranks up there. It is helpful as can be, even for those who are not close to getting hitched (like myself) because, let’s be honest, we girls like to dream and think ahead. This is also perfect for men who want to surprise their fiances-to-be.

Features of this application include:
- A ring sizer, the first tool of its kind from a jeweler, which allows users to determine their size by placing an actual ring directly on the screen. After placing the ring on the screen, you can scroll and align it with a match (screenshot below)

- Ability to browse the collection according to shape, setting, metal or design. You can also pair the rings with wedding bands.
- The rings are shown true-to-size and each style may be viewed with diamonds of six different carat sizes. Users can also zoom in on a ring’s details.
- Save and share favorites via e-mail, Facebook and Twitter.
- Make an appointment to go in-store or set up a call with a consultant

Watch a video of how exactly the application works here!

The application is available to download now at the iTunes Apple store. Click here to download.

The best of summer: Surfer chic(k)

The best of summer: Surfer chic(k)

With the summer sun, cool breezes and Katy Perry’s California Gurls having taken the spot of our oh-so coveted deliciously guilty pleasure summer anthem, we’re totally feeling the laid back feel of denim cutoffs, bright accents and cool and easy, breezy dresses and linen rompers.

Enter: Surfer chic(k)!

Summer means easy, breezy basics, but this year they are going to be full of punchy colors and brown accessories and accents. These pieces make us want to set up shop on the beach with a cocktail in hand and not leave for quite some time.

The best of summer: Safari

The best of summer: Safari

We’re not the biggest fans of animal prints, we won’t lie. Intense leopard prints or far too-in-your-face animal-esque garments are just not our style. However, all that being said, this summer’s safari chic is a look we are digging- in moderation. Yes, moderation is the key to this trend. Favorites to nail this look? Look no further…

  1. BCBG Ruffled Neckline Printed dress, $218 Soft yet sexy, this dress nails the safari look without being overdone. Plus, BCBG can do hardly no wrong in our minds.
  2. Lauren Merkin Astrid bag in Python, $395 We adore Lauren Merkin and we’re loving all her bigger bags she’s been churning out recently. we even love this Astrid bag in the shiny python. This fierce bag definitely screams Hissss. In a good way, obvi.
  3. Joie Bryant Animal print tunic, $175 Joie has been doing tons of subtle animal prints of recent and while this tunic is a bit more blatant, we love the idea of pairing it with jeggings and a pair of chunky wooden heels.
  4. Knock on Wood ring at ModCloth, $11.99 Cheap accessories that scream safari are really the only way to go when it comes to merchandising a trendy look. ModCloth has tons of easy ways to do this with their selection.
  5. Dolce Vita Noah platforms, $177 These shoes may not strike you as comfortable, but to hell with comfort! This DV platforms are awesome for summer and we have no doubt will carry you flawlessly into Fall.
  6. Madewell Brunch shorts in Fossil, $49 We always wish we had more short-worthy weather, but alas San Francisco just doesn’t always give us that luxury. If we were able to, we’d have way more shorts in stock and would grab a pair of these reasonably priced Madwells to top with a safari-inspired tee.
  7. Kenneth Jay Lane Hammered bangle, $29.99 Love this color. Love the hammered texture to the bangle. And love the stellar price tag on this item!

Get the look: The Jewels from Sex & the City 2

Get the look: The Jewels from Sex & the City 2

This post is brought to you by the darling Virginia from Lovely20s.

The long-awaited Sex and the City 2 finally came out in theaters yesterday, much to the delight of fashionistas worldwide. Women from here on out will be dying and vying to get the uber stylish looks of the SATC2 ladies. But the question that will inevitably be asked is “Where is that from?”

Not only just the shoes in the flick, which we shared here, but lucky you, we have one other important area covered: Jewelry. Much of the jewelry in the movie has been provided by the brilliant and vibrant Argentine jewelry designer, Rodrigo Otazu. Rodrigo’s bold and adventurous aesthetic have caught the attentions of W, Italian Vogue, Elizabeth Taylor, Tyra Banks, Beyonce and, recently, Patricia Fields.

His philosophy? “Jewelry is sexy…A woman should know how to wear her jewelry,” said Rodrigo. Clearly, Rodrigo and SATC2 is a match made in accessories heaven. Get your own SATC2 look with the Rodrigo Otazu pieces below.

Worn by Sarah Jessica Parker: Large necklace made of pearls and large Swarovski crystal center.

Worn by Kim Cattrall: Chandelier earrings made of a  colorful multi-mix of Swarovski crystals. 6 inches long.

Worn by Sarah Jessica Parker: Yellow Italian moonstone accented with vintage Italian green glass with Tanzanite Swarovski crystal center.
Cuff with pearl outer lining, chain running in between. Opening made of Swarovski crystals.

Jet black Swarovski floral chandelier earrings. 3 3/4 inches long.

Blue and iridescent crystal make up this beautiful Swarovski chandelier earrings. 3 1/2 inches long.

Clear crystal chandelier earrings with dangling briolettes. 3 3/4 inches long.

Rodrigo is clearly all about the “wow” factor. Own it yourself with one of his pieces – you are sure to turn heads, just like SJP does. To shop, visit rodrigootazu.com and fragments.com.

The Backstory…

When Rodrigo first met the SATC2 styling team, he was too late to get his in on the movie. “The slots were closed,” said Rodrigo. However, one of the stylists was floored by his jewelry when she saw his runway show with model, Lily Cole, on Youtube (video here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0_FKSWR69Q). She made one phone call insisting that Rodrigo was a must-have.

Rodrigo furiously began sketching and designing when he heard the fantastic news. Within four sleepless days and nights, Rodrigo purchased materials and hand-crafted a collection just for the movie. It paid off: SATC2 chose the eight pieces above. Statistically, that is extremely impressive.

Rodrigo said, “When I met Patricia Fields, she grabbed my hand and said ‘I hope we give you a lot of success.’” Rodrigo has had his fair share already, but SATC2 has a good track record of launching designers into another stratosphere. Look at Manolo Blahnik.
