These photos have been hiding on my hard drive and I just re-surfaced them. This is what I wore on Christmas Day. A touch of holiday spirit through a sparkly Gryphon skirt and rather simple in all other manners. It was unseasonably warm at home in Chicago for this time of year but I have to tell you, I kind of loved it, even though I missed having a white Christmas. I’ve since worn this skirt a few more times and this Kenneth Jay Lane necklace has become a staple in my go-to jewelry each day.

This past Saturday Taylor and I met up to do a picnic brunch in central park. We found a shady lawn, sprawled out and caught up. I confess that I’m quite sure central park is my happy place in new york…and having mimosas along for the morning doesn’t hurt either!

The outing also was an opportunity to wear this lovely state necklace by designer Maya Brenner. Her pieces are so beautiful and delicate and I love having a piece of my new home, New York to wear! Maya’s necklaces have many a celebrity fan, including Katy Perry, Lauren Conrad, Eva Longoria and Jessica Biel. She’s also now making ‘world’ necklaces and I think I need to buy an ‘M’ necklace next because I love how simple it is- exactly my kind of taste when it comes to jewelry.

What a summer it’s been so far! I just returned from Cabo San Lucas this morning and am in mad catch up mode, but thought I’d share some snaps of my summer thus far. Hope all of you are soaking yours up as much as you can!

Alex and Ani

It was actually my younger brother that first introduced me to eco-friendly jewelry line, Alex and Ani when he gave me one of their pieces for Christmas (seen here and here) via Shopbop and since last December my love for this designer has only grown.

So imagine my delight to happen upon one of their few boutiques last week while in Nantucket. It was bright, warm and full of delight and I loved browsing their “Bangle Bars” and seeing some of the new pieces (like the collection featuring feathers of which the bangles can be seen in photos above). And to top it all off Alex and Ani uses eco-friendly and recycled materials for their designs.

I nearly lost my mind wanting to buy so many of their affordable pieces (lord knows I love me some stacked bracelets), but I used restraint and left the store with one of the more unique pieces being that of a whistle chain necklace embellished with black stones (shown above). I wore it today with a simple black dress from Gap and loved having the piece be the center of my look.

Pretty little things from House of Harlow 1960 and CC Skye

Two things:

1. A shot of recent additions to my jewelry collection with a House of Harlow 1960 ring (seen here and on which I get so many compliments. You can still buy it, too, if you’re interested!) and a CC Skye feather bracelet.

2. WordPress has decided to lock me out of admin rights to update the site under my profile and no one can seem to fix it. Therefore, I’ll be posting under Andrea’s account until things get back to normal. Cross your fingers- it’s been five days of blogging technical issues hell.

I’ve just returned from five days spent in Miami with lots of heat and lots of work and I’m happy to be back in my new home of New York. Whilst I wish I had been wearing all of these pieces as well, I was finally able to wear my Free People dress via Shopbop that has been eying me from my closet for weeks now (first seen here). I was feeling very 70s inspired, in case you didn’t already pick up on that…

I also finally got to wear this very cool medallion, courtesy of modcloth. Have you seen their Be the Buyer program? Dannijo Fashion Week Fall 2011

Dannijo Fall 2011

If you’ve ever taken a gander at statement necklaces or shop regularly on Shopbop, you know the name Dannijo. I ran down to Chelsea last night to check out Dannijo’s Fall 2011 Fashion Week presentation.

The collection was infused with Southwestern and aboriginal dimensions and models were adorned in the statement jewels whilst being posed in a log cabin installation as guests sipped on hot spiked apple cider out of mugs. Designers (and sisters) Danielle and Jodie Snyder focused clearly on rustic glamour and I was pining after the large, brass cuffs and the signature statement necklaces that were dripping with turquoise and Swavorski crystals.

I always love Dannijo’s bohemian, yet feminine aesthetic and this latest collection was nothing short of what the line has become known for: stylish and classic.

p.s I’ll be attending the Independent Fashion Blogger’s Evolving Influence Conference tomorrow at Mac & Milk Studios and am looking forward to seeing some blogger bffs and meeting some in person for the first time!
