Late Christmas Present-BCBG Sale

Late Christmas Present-BCBG Sale

With what to my wondrous eyes did I spy? But a beautiful and glorious BCBG sale right before my eyes!

We know how much I love BCBG so it’s no big shock that I head straight to their store on the day after Christmas. And what a wonderful trip it was! Everything previously marked down 50% was an ADDITIONAL 30% off. HELLO!!! Greatest. Sale. Ever.

I nabbed these beauties as well as darling top. I allowed myself not to lose my mind and get all sorts of steals, but I highly recommend you make a trip- there’s a lot more goods at the stores than online, too so definitely check one out if you have one nearby.

Totally Tory Burch

Totally Tory Burch

With the overwhelming success of her Reva ballerina flats (over 300,000 had sold by June of ’08), it’s no surprise that those ballet beauties catapulted designer Tory Burch onto the fashion scene, even getting her named as “the most copied designer in America,” according to The Los Angeles Times.

As you learned, Tory is a WIT in her own right. Her designs embody effortless sophistication and casual chic. My roommate, Andrea, adores her Revas (both pair) because, without any thought, she can slip on the comfy leather flats and feel more, as she likes to say, “fancy.” But it’s pretty much true. My Revas have accompanied me on endless adventures since I’ve had them (they are totally worth their $195 price tag).

Tory burst onto the New York socialite scene and received a pass into fashion’s fast lane when Oprah tapped her for the Couch of Destiny and raved about her love of Tory Burch’s signature tunic. (We all know how Oprah’s praise works like that of Midas’ hand).

I’m personally not the biggest fan of her clothing- only because it reminds me a bit too much of the 70s resort wear that just doesn’t fit my style, but I’m also not who Tory primarily designs for so it’s ok. Tory is designing clothes for women who can relate to her. Her shoes though? I adore them. Someday in the future I will spring for a pair of pumps. Like these Meghan ones that are so perfectly named if only I could get them free of charge! (sigh…wishful thinking).

Tory Burch in a nutshell (according to the Times):

Peppy

High neckline, late-’60s shift dresses in oversize prints always seemed to be choking the poet Anne Sexton, but if the Connecticut Junior League picnic look doesn’t happen to kill your soul, it’s perky summer fun!

Preppy

The clientele tends toward girls who never rebelled — and the moms who shop with them. All the matching terrycloth drawstring pants they’ll need to equip themselves for life in the eternal resort.

Oversteppy

If you can overlook the entitled persona of the brand herself, it is undeniable that Tory Burch fills a fashion gap large enough to push most socialites into; millions of lemmings will jump in after them.

Uggs provide Ahhhhhs

Uggs provide Ahhhhhs

When I first moved to California I despised the look that had burst onto the scene that combined mini denim skirts with Uggs. Being from Chicago, I had never seen something so ridiculous.

I eventually came to own my own pair of the fuzzy boots, but trust me- they will never, ever be paired with a skirt. Their other uses are so much better, in my mind. Late night runs to the corner store? Uggs accompany me. Working on the weekend in a coffee shop? Uggs accompany me. After a day of skiing in Beaver Creek? Uggs warm my feet. Traveling between San Francisco & Chicago? Uggs stay on my feet the whole time.

What my mother had declared a trend, however, is still going strong. And goodness are they comfortable and reliable. The brand itself has exploded (albeit, there are some designs I think the shoe world could do without), but for a girl that wears heels nearly every day, Uggs are solace and Uggs are pure, comfortable bliss.

You may remember when you set out for your own pair, they were often sold out leading up to the winter and holiday time periods. And, despite what most consumers thought, this strategy was no supply glitch, rather a carefully planned and executed distribution strategy.

As the brand continues with its new and loyal customers, if you don’t already have a pair (or two), I highly recommend getting your own ASAP. Trust me, your WIT shoe collection isn’t complete without them.
