For the holidays this year I’ll first head home to Chicago and then will be jetting off to Colorado. I’d like to think I could pull of some chic apres ski outfits, but let’s be honest…after being out on the slopes all day, it’s hardly possible to look and feel put-together but let’s just imagine I’m able to pull off some of the looks above, kk??

It’s no secret that I love layering my denim jacket over spring dresses (recent examples here, here and here).

However with the wild heat waves we’ve been having, wearing a sleeved jacket isn’t completely practical which is what has me loving a denim vest like this Topshop one. Layer one over pretty much any of your summer staples: a lightweight tee tucked in a mini skirt, a maxi dress or, a look I love even more is topping a dressier look with a vest for an edgier look for evening.

Love this simple, yet chic summer look:

Combine 1 ounce denim cutoffs, 1 part tee and 1 cup white blazer. Optional: killer statement cuff.

I have such a girl crush on Olivia Palermo (and oddly forgot her in this post). Sure she hasn’t been portrayed as the most lovely person in reality shows, but to me she is stunning and her style is completely coveted by moi. Every outfit she puts together is perfection and I always find myself pinning photos of her. (Remember her styling with Tibi?) I’ve seen her a couple of times during New York Fashion Week up close and she truly is this beautiful in person as well. But seriously…her outfits? All gorgeous. All hail, Olivia.

You know those girls whose style you just lust after? You find yourself wanting every single piece they don? Yep, these are those gals for me.

Finding great blogs has got to be a favorite pastime of mine. It’s one of the reasons I love blogging and getting recommendations from favorite blogging friends of mine. Many I come across are similar in style and then there are some standouts.

And, when I learned of Inslee from Taylor (whose header may look more familiar after this post…) I have to say I was a tad giddy. Her illustrations are absolutely incredible and breathtaking. They are like a breath of fresh air in the blogosphere and every time this extremely talented gal puts pen to paper, her sketches give me a little piece of joy. You can see a lot of her work on her blog which she keeps full of portraits of gorgeous gowns and chic city gals or shop for stationery or artwork featuring her work.

Oh and you can also commission Inslee for pieces of work (which I may just be adding to my to do list- how cute would it be to frame her sketches and place on gallery shelves?!…Project!)

I highly recommend adding Inslee’s blog to your Google Reader, if you couldn’t tell already, she’s a personal fav.

Alongside this color crush, I absolutely love all the sorbet colors that graced the runways this past Fashion Week. When I was little my favorite ice cream flavor was rainbow sherbet and so many pieces featured above take me back to summertime moments spent delighting in the colorful, cool treat atop a sugar cone.

While my mind is on to dressing for fall, these looks from Spring 2012 have me looking forward to the many seasons of New York I’ll experience first-hand living here now!
