Guys, I am so excited for Memorial Day weekend this year as I am heading South to New Orleans! I have never been and have so loved getting excited through everyone’s tweets of Musts, etc. If you have any recommendations, please do share in Comments so I can use them as a guide while I’m down there. In the meantime, I thought I’d share some of my packing inspiration. I’m packing dresses and sandals almost exclusively (am a wee bit scared of the heat!), but will have a pair of dressier shorts and wedges thrown in, too, I’m sure.

Hopping a train to Boston this afternoon to meet my sister who will be flying there from Chicago…weee! I haven’t been to Boston since I was little (in 1994!) so I am long overdue and can’t wait to explore the city and see a few friends while I’m at it.
Have any recommendations of things not to miss? I would absolutely LOVE to hear them!

Hope you had a great weekend…what all did you do? A highlight of mine was the pouring rain yesterday that made it entirely acceptable to stay in bed late, watch loads of movies and clean up around the apartment. Some snapshots from the past couple weeks. March was a busy one! I had some guests, indulged in too many good meals (and cupcakes from the new Georgetown Cupcake in Soho!), and ironically, also aimed to get my butt back into the gym. I’ve got a wedding to be in this June so time to get with it! Been wearing my Nine West boots constantly and also loving my new ring from Social Experiment.
- Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair, $80 // This has transformed my skin since using each night before going to bed and it’s a new ritual. Plus teh bottle is under 3oz. for carry ons.
- Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream, $26 // This was a recent purchase and I love it for being lightweight, yet super hydrating. Also small enough for travel.
- Jouer spf 15 Lip Sheer in Positano, $22 // This was sent to me recently and I fell in love because the color is sheer, yet adds enough color to wake up your face just a wee bit for early runs to the airport.
- J.Crew Lula Patent Leather Ballet Flats, $128// These have been my footwear of choice on planes (and in life, really) and they are so comfortable.
- Luna Bar in Iced Oatmeal Raisin, $2 // If I don’t pack these, I eat horribly when at the airport. This is my flavor of choice.
- Benefit Cosmetics’ They’re Real Mascara, $22 // I do very little makeup these days and when I do it consists of a bit of lip color and this mascara. Instant transformation of your face with just your lashes. *dreams*
Over the years as I’ve traveled more for work and lots of long weekends with friends, etc., I’ve gotten real good at packing lightly and efficiently. My most recent trips to Clevelandand Los Angeles found me with light luggage and I’ve finally narrowed down to some of my most recent favorite essentials for when I pack up and hit the road and wanted to share those here. Do you have any favorites I need to look into!?
This past weekend in Santa Monica was the perfect balance between work and play. I spent Saturday at the Independent Spirit Awards for work and then spent the rest of my time eating my way through the city (it appears from photos above!)
I had amazing Huevos Rancheros at the Loews where I stayed, tasted the most amazing dessert at Gjelina (a salted caramel pot de creme!), had margaritas watching the sunset, brunched at Shutters on the Beach, downed a coffee from my favorite, Peet’s and treated myself to pastries and macarons at Bottega Louie and enjoyed all of these things with great family & friends who live in the area. As I sat watching the sunset last night from the beach by myself, I realized I am definitely most at home in California (as much as I love New York).

I’m headed back to my Midtown roots this weekend, but this time to Cleveland, Ohio. I’ll be visiting one of my very best friends and her new engagement ring, and fiance (of course) and couldn’t be more excited.

To kick start the weekend I thought I would share a few snaps from the past few weeks. I’ve hit the ground running ever since returning from the holidays and New York Fashion Week begins in less than 2 weeks…I’ll be taking this weekend easy with a few plans with friends here and there and plenty of time to run errands, get my apartment in order and prepare for my mom’s visit in one week’s time…can’t wait!
Even though we’re just coming out of the holidays, I could not be happier that I’m off on Monday and will be enjoying a long weekend. Which is also why Taylor and I are heading to Washington DC this weekend. We’ll visit some of my family, stay in Georgetown, visit the Smithsonian, brunch and enjoy our nation’s pretty, pretty capitol.
Have any recommendations for us two ladies as we hit the town?! Would love to hear them!
