Oh So Nice Neutrals

Oh So Nice Neutrals

While Spring and Summer fashion palattes graced us with outrageously colorful options like kelly green, eggplant, orange, yellow and teal- this Fall, it’s all about the neutrals.

You’d think you’d get sick of neutrals, right? When, in fact, they are the most reliable buys a WIT can have hanging in her closet. We rely on white for when we want to feel even more tan when we come back bronzed from WIT trips involving beaches. We rely on black as our best standby for the nights we’re feeling fat, bloated, pale, stressed, self-conscience (the list goes on and on, I’m sure). And we rely on beige when we need to be professional and conservative.

Well, this Fall all these couleurs will join together in ensembles. But this time around they will play with each other- black accents on a beige top, black and white tweed, steel gray satin, rich gorgeous brown leather, white belts over black shirts- you get the point. Check out ShopBop’s latest LookBook and you’ll see exactly what I’m talking about.

It’s time to throw away the old “no black worn with brown” rule. Learn to love neutrals and start experimenting now! These neutrals can take you from professional to party girl and classic to couture. Loves it!

Black + Purple = Red Hot!

Black + Purple = Red Hot!

No longer are black and purple something to hide on your body! This season WITs should be showing them off! The two colors are “it” for Fall and below we’ve found some of our absolute favorites, currently available online. Check them out and then don’t be afraid to splurge on key pieces and fun staples!

This Vera Wang top- feminine and elegant, but chic and modern because of the color. Pair it with black shorts and pumps for a night out or a pencil skirt for the office.

This killer Black Halo dress is Jackie O meets 21st century. It’s got great tailoring to make you look long and lean and the cutout in the back is sure to turn heads.

The final item I’ll profile and highly recommend is this Dolce Vita number. Want to re-create Blake Lively’s look at the Teen Choice Awards that we mentioned earlier? Put this dress on, add a wide brown belt around the waist and add heels. Dolce Vita has boutiques spread across Manhattan and is a great destination when you absolutely need to find a pair of shoes or the perfect party dress- they specialize in both and won’t charge you a month’s rent for the fashionable finds.

Trend Alert: Yellow

Trend Alert: Yellow

There isn’t a better way to get yourself out of the winter blues than adding a most fabulously fresh color to your wardrobe! Yellow is the new color to be sporting. And while it may not be Spring just yet, who says you can’t make it feel like it is?

Your best bets for wearing yellow (all available at Nordstrom):

Shoes: Paired with a casual outfit of jeans and a complimentary tank and jacket

Dress: Yellow can guarantee a few extra jealousy stares when you show up in this fresh of a color.

Bag: Don’t keep using the same dark leather bag you’ve had all through Fall and Winter, grab a bag entirely or accented with yellow and use your new accessory as a way to brighten your mood all through the day.
