I spent much of this weekend wandering all around the city taking in what still feels like my “new” city. I experienced the amazingness that is Mario Batali’s latest endeavor, Eataly (it’s like a slice of heaven!), played tourist when I nibbled on a Magnolia cupcake (I think it was the best one I’ve had yet), visited Madewell’s brand new store in the Flatiron district and did a tad too much shopping. In doing so, however, I mentally took notes of all things I felt necessary for this spring.

My ownership of the essentials listed above is almost complete. What are your spring essentials?

DIY: Floral accessory

The other week my friend Megan visited me (she snapped these shots of me as well) and she brought with her this American Apparel sash and proceeded to show me all the neat little ways she’s been wearing it. Naturally, I just had to share. This one retails for $14 and a slightly larger version is on sale now at AA for a steal of a price, just $8, you could buy bunches of these in various colors and go nuts. I also love how Liz at Late Afternoon styled hers here and Emily of Cupcakes and Cashmere did a similar headband style with hers in red velvet here as well.

Winter Workout Gear

Winter Workout Gear

Let’s be honest, one of our most pledged New Year’s resolutions is to hit the gym, pronto! Why not kickstart your workout with feel-good and look-good gear.  As the temperature drops below freezing across the nation, there is no excuse to layer the wrong type of workout clothes at the gym.  Unless you’re training for the Winter Olympics or are hitting the slopes, we suggest to dress in breathable layers (think Under Armour “cold gear” wear) at the gym.  Sometimes the right fitting (and feeling) clothes will inspire a brand new work out.  Here are a few ideas, all in basic grey.

The Bag- Stella McCartney for adidas has some fabulous and chic gym bags. Check out the reasonably priced “Hitrenn Bag” for $140.

The Top: Racerbacks are still the best for the gym in terms of flexibility and movement.  Be sure to layer with a fleece zip-up or cotton hoodie while warming up.  Our favorites include Victoria’s Secret VSX Line of workout wear, or pick up a few CP by Champion tops at your local Target.

Long California Pullover Fleece by American Apparel

Pants- lululemon has the most amazingly fitted and comfortable pants.  We adore the “Wear with All” pants that you can wear while working out, running errands, or lounging around. Just don’t forget to stretch it out and work up a sweat!
