outfit // caped crusader

The moment you wake up and you know you’ve slept through your alarm is never a pleasant one. Last week I was set to meet Bekka at 8:30 and awoke at 8:12 from a nightmare. I shot up, heart racing and proceeded to rush through getting ready to meet her 30 minutes late. I despise being late (it gives me unreal anxiety – anyone else experience this?)

The cherry on top was that it was snowing outside rendering me having to throw together a new outfit than what I had initially planned. Enter the Cuyana cape. I originally ordered this cape in the camel color but needed to return it for the Petite size which was sold out at the time I placed my order. I am so glad to now have one in my possession. It is the perfect cozy companion for the office and for travel.

Cuyana makes some of my favorite classic pieces. There’s this tote and this scarf (and I also have their travel cases) and I profiled the designers behind the brand here.

This particular mornings was one of the first snows we’ve had this season so it also allowed me to break out my new Sorel boots- I’m finally properly outfitted for winter! (They are so comfy and fur lined so super warm.)

Bekka and I warmed up over coffee at a neighborhood favorite, Gasoline Alley before I rushed off to work in flurry (pun intended.)

Not going to lie though…as magical as the snowfall was…just looking at these photos make me shiver! Today I’m on a plane to San Francisco for a weekend with my best gals- a dose of laughter and joy that is just what the doctor ordered. What would one do without friends (seriously though?)

outfit // sneaks

Sometimes a girl just can’t be bothered to put on anything other than sneakers. When it came time for me to replace my running shoes I decided to go for some black + white Nikes that could be thrown on with outfits exactly like this. (I did previously state my love of athleisure.)

At work I called this outfit Cher on top, Dionne on bottom. Am I right? Preppy on top and #CBB on bottom (CBB = Can’t be Bothered.)

These Club Monaco leggings were one of my best purchases of this season. I did have to get them tailored (they were about 4 inches too long) but I wanted them to be the right length for heels (like these.)

I have actually been loving layering silk button downs (note investment pieces) with sweaters and tops despite the fact that it gives me slight PTSD from high school (seriously though, it is tres Cher-inspired.) Banana Republic has been killing it recently in my opinion (remember this lace crop top I wore?) so I’ve been picking up lots of good basics from them that I can wear & re-wear loads of ways.

I had a great weekend soaking up New York. I brunched, caught up with friends, got back to work at SoulCycle, made dinner to enjoy during the Golden Globes with girlfriends, tested out a new restaurant that had been on my bucket list and did loads of errands (and scored an amazing deal on a pair of boots I’d been eyeing). I leave for Cincinnati and San Francisco this week!

Next to-dos when I am back in New York involve a much needed facial (this winter weather wreaking havoc on anyone else?) and getting my hair cut & colored. I tend to blink and it’s been 5 months since a haircut…whoops! (And these photos make me realize my roots are begging for some TLC…)

Happy Monday & I’ll see you tomorrow to share a new Beauty Edit.

outfit // a little festive

Last week was one of being oh-so-festive. I had my work holiday party, my brother’s Christmas party and I headed uptown to get further in the spirit by seeing the Rock Center tree again, enjoying drinks at the famed Algonquin Hotel, saw Once on Broadway and did so much more and it made me realize…I sure am ready now to get out to Colorado to start celebrating with my family. (See more peeks at my weekend over here).

I styled this skirt at the end of summer here and have now transitioned it into Fall winter (might I mention that it is also on sale for under $40!?) Paired it with this clutch that I finally added to my collection after wanting it for a long time. These sales are really getting me!

And sharing the cute iPhone case that my friend Grace helped design for Minnie & Emma this season! She was so sweet to send me two personalized cases and I just adore the collection.

Hope you each enjoyed the weekend and have a great start to this new week – Christmas is next week!

Outfit: Sweater (also here and on heavy rotation here, here & here) // Skirt // Leopard Clutch (also here) // Tights // Coach x Frye boots (love this affordable option) // Karen Walker Sunglasses // Headband (from a NYC street vendor but cute ones here & here) // Watch // BaubleBar Pearl Hinge bracelet // BaubleBar Necklace // BaubleBar ring and this ring (just got them and I’m obsessed)
