Rebecca Minkoff Runway Design Challenge

Polyvore (whom I played hostess of sorts with last week) has just launched a crazy cool contest this morning. You can use Polyvore to create your own Rebecca Minkoff Morning After Clutch for a chance to have your creation sold in stores and debut on the runway at New York Fashion Week this coming February.

Win a trip to New York to see your winning creation walk down the runway! The winning design will be unveiled at Rebecca Minkoff’s runway show in Lincoln Center this February at New York Fashion Week. The winner will also be flown to New York to see their creation walk down the runway AND get to meet Rebecca Minkoff (die, we all know I love her) in person during New York Fashion Week at Lincoln Center.

Get all the details and get to designing here!

modman monday 14 : nice guy johnny contest!

I had the pleasure of attending a private screening of Nice Guy Johnny, a movie about a man torn between following through with his promises and following his heart. The film premiered at the prestigious 2010 Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year. The screening took place at Meet (At The Apartment), a charming meeting and gallery space. And some good food, great talent and a movie and we were good to go!

Director and screenwriter Edward Burns (Uncle Terry) and actress Kerry Bishé (Brooke) joined us to chat about the movie and answered questions from the audience. One question for Kerry was about her style, on and off the screen.

Kerry was her own stylist in Nice Guy Johnny, which gave her a great deal of freedom. When asked if her personal style was similar to that of her movie characters’, she said yes, “although Brooke’s style is a bit more sporty”. Her favorite piece that she wore in the movie was a thrifted yellow sweater, one that became more beat up and tattered along the way. But Kerry is a jeans and a t-shirt kind of girl. For this occasion, she did pick some cute pieces from Eskell. She wore a fun, flirty top, a printed skirt and pulled it out together with matching english saddle shoes and belt. Simple and effortless!

And with that said, I have a great contest for the modman & wit&whimsy readers!

modman monday 12 : live free with ckfree.

I’m still on the hunt for a signature cologne. The docu-mercial for ckfree along with their video submission contest grabbed my attention and decided to check it out.

The description tagline for the fragrance is: “ckfree has been created to offer men an everyday escape away from the daily grind regardless of their age, ethnicity or social status. It’s very democratic. It’s a fragrance for laid-back men who like to live life to the fullest. Its aromatic-woody scent evokes the idea of escaping, and of freeing your mind. An idea that is echoed in the limpid bottle’s hue, shading from sky blue to sea blue.”

The smell of ckfree is exactly that.. no frills and right for the everyday man. It isn’t overpowering, which is great for guys who don’t like the idea of having to put on cologne and stinkbombing the apartment or elevator. For the guys who absolutely cannot stand using cologne, you can snag an aftershave balm, too.

ckfree is living up to its name and challenging men to show a spontaneous, no-rules attitude and enter the Calvin Klein Live Free contest for a chance to win $5,000. Videos that shows you pushing your boundaries, illustrating your freedom and free spirit on this open road journey of life can be submitted here. Need some inspiration? Check out videos of how other modern men live free.

Submit your video, get ckfree and live free.

Make it a fantastic week,

_the modman
