spring 2011 essentials

  1. ASOS Open Back dress, $70
  2. Coach Maleena wedges, $198
  3. Elizabeth & James Wayfarers, $155
  4. American Apparel Leather Carry-All, $50
  5. Forever 21 fedora, $6
  6. J.Crew Pearl Cluster bracelet, $78
  7. Anthropologie scarf, $138

I spent much of this weekend wandering all around the city taking in what still feels like my “new” city. I experienced the amazingness that is Mario Batali’s latest endeavor, Eataly (it’s like a slice of heaven!), played tourist when I nibbled on a Magnolia cupcake (I think it was the best one I’ve had yet), visited Madewell’s brand new store in the Flatiron district and did a tad too much shopping. In doing so, however, I mentally took notes of all things I felt necessary for this spring.

My ownership of the essentials listed above is almost complete. What are your spring essentials?

Bright & Bold Separates

  1. Zara Full skirt, $39.90
  2. ASOS Pumps, $98
  3. Reiss Tank, $150
  4. Zara Double-Breasted blazer, $99.90

It’s no surprise that I’m feeling bright separates for this season (here and here). Zara keeps killing it (in my personal opinion) and if you haven’t been in a store of recent, you must do so, or just check out their April lookbook for inspriation. This spring is the time to go bold so I highly recommend investing in pieces that are in-your-face color and don’t be afraid to pair them with equally as loud pieces. These are just a few of my favorites currently available.

modman monday 32 : spring it forward with aldo.

Although its gloomy and rainy this morning in New York City, everyone here got to experience a weekend preview of spring. With temperatures in the high 60s/low 70s on Saturday, I’m sure a lot of New Yorkers got their shopping on. For those who haven’t already purchased spring additions, check out shoes by Aldo, in collaboration with 26 year old designer Julian Louie. His background? Louie interned at Imitation of Christ and Calvin Klein and graduated from Cooper Union’s architecture program. Not your typical fashion training, but his point of view is unique. The shoes were used in his spring 2011 collection, which offered another dimension of texture and color. They are now available for you to add to your wardrobe:

Joe Zee of Elle Magazine hosted a preview shopping event, in partnership with Rue La La and people went gaga over these. Preview the collection here, and find out where you can find your pair too. For more images, head over to the modman.

With spring in mind,
_danny
