This outfit is nothing new (actually the jacket is from middle school…!!), but can you tell WIT & Whimsy has had a face lift?!

My beautiful sister took these shots before a day spent wandering Georgetown and brunching at the too cute Kafe Leopold this past weekend. My brother graduated magna cum laude and is a Fulbright scholar! I could not be more proud :)

p.s. watched Oprah’s Greatest Lessons episode while compiling this post and heard Toni Morrison speaking about her best life lesson. She said it was that she found a space (writing) to own and love and she learned to embrace that. It is the thing she loves best in life to do and that’s why she does it…tis how I feel about blogging, my loves.

To Help With Your New Year’s Resolution

So it’s a given that a lot of you probably have a new year’s resolution to make the gym a regular habit in 2011 (myself included), so I thought what do I need to get back on the bandwagon? Why a cute gym bag of course! I’ve been a huge fan of my Longchamp Le Pilage tote bag and some of my friends have long loved their Marc By Marc Jacobs gym bags, so I wanted to highlight some of my favorites to help inspire your trip back to the gym. You’re welcome.

And yes, I realize some of these aren’t traditional gym bags, but hey if they can serve more than one purpose…even better, right?

Inspired by…Menswear

This year I had a Christmas miracle occur. Well, not quite. But I did manage to pack for 2+ weeks in a single carry on bag. For this chronic over-packer who has never not shown up at Christmas with a large suitcase declaring, “but winter clothes take up so much room!” it was quite the feat. (Seriously, so much so that I wanted to make it a surprise to my family upon arrival in New York and when I told my mom she first laughed heartily and then when I failed to join in her laughter, was promptly followed by a, “you’re kidding, right?”).

Anyhow, with so few items to work with when it came to getting dressed (on the days I manage to wean myself out of my favorite pair of yoga pants), I’ve had to get creative. Henceforth, stealing this old button down from my brother’s closet. I paired it with a BCBG sweater I’ve had for ages that has a great exposed zipper down the back and a pair of little Target leggings I picked up the other day for ridiculously cheap. Andrea has them so I knew they were comfy and cozy. Menswear items always are a bit bulkier, but when it comes to dressing in Winter, I think it’s an easy look to get away with.
