Fashion Week Spring 2011: Tracy Reese

Tracy Reese is known for several things: a flirty, feminine aesthetic, bold pops of color, knowing how to work a print and for designing for the bodies of real women. I’m a big fan of her Plenty by Tracy Reese line and was able to watch her Spring 2011 collection showcased this past Monday in New York as a part of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

Reese went all out with rounded glasses (a trend across may collections. Read about it here), classic belts, big and floppy hats and pretty pendants in her show and showcased a color palette of rich royal blues, pretty neutrals and whites and blacks. Her styling made a huge impact and I loved the pretty, natural hair on the models with nude, matte lips. The high end pieces looked effortlessly chic and ready to throw on come Spring.

I adore this color and this dress would be a show-stopper for a client presentation or from going day to night.

This dress is 70s meets DVF if you ask me.

This dress is too cute and I love the different take on color-blocking by using two different patterns.

Sleek and modern, this dress moved beautifully on the runway.

This is a classic Tracy Reese silhouette.

I loved this look and could see myself wearing it to work easily.

This outfit has Andrea written all over it!

Loving this blazer. It does strike me as more Fall, than Spring, however.

Two cute. Even though I’m not a fan of silk blouses usually, I love this ensemble.

Sleek and elegant.

This dress makes me want to frollick in Central Park.

This was my favorite look in the collection. I especially like the cut outs in the back of the blouse (see photo below).

This is so luxurious looking.

And here are the shots I snapped from alongside the runway:

Spring 2011 Trend: Seeing life through…Round…Glasses

There’s definitely retro vibes being felt on the runway and one of the accessories adding this influence? Round framed glasses that are popping up in a lot of the designers’ collections. Mostly in the form of rounded sunglasses, but today’s Tracy Reese presentation featured Harry Potter-esque glasses in a “I’m a chic librarian” kind of way.

What do you think? Will you be sporting round glasses come 2011??

My Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Lineup

Hi lovelies! I’m writing to you from the skies (got to love Virgin America’s in-flight WiFi) on my way to New York for what promises to be a fabulous week of work and play. Like last season, I’m once again very lucky to have a fabulous line up of designers’ collections to see grace the runways and I could not be more excited.

I’ll be tweeting throughout the week (like, tweeting, A LOT. Consider yourself warned :) ) so be sure to follow me on Twitter if you don’t already!

Friday:

Edition Georges Chakra

Ports 1961 (if last February’s show was any indication, this will be wonderful again)

Nicole Miller

Saturday:

Cynthia Rowley (So was not expecting this invite, but was thrilled when it came into my inbox!)

Z Spoke by Zac Posen

Sunday:

Rebecca Minkoff (I’ve missed so many of Rebecca’s chic press events in the past due to being based in San Francisco so I’m giddy over going to this one. If you read WIT & Whimsy often you know I adore her. I also am betting on her showcasing her new shoe collection which will be awesome to get a sneak peek at in person.)

Cynthia Steffe (Cynthia is a favorite designer of mine and her show last February was super chic)

Monday:

Tracy Reese (She’s the master of fun prints so this collection I’m sure will be punchy all the way down the runway)

Monique Lhuillier (In the words of Rachel Zoe, I DIE.)

Betsey Johnson

Tuesday:

Tibi (Another favorite designer – as seen here)

Wednesday:

Nanette Lepore (I love what Nanette does with color so I have no doubt this show will be pure fun. Andrea and I write about her pieces quite often)
