orange crush

As per usual, the Spring/Summer collections have been full of color and the first trend in such category that I’m really digging is the uber chic orangy-red tones coming down the runways. Here are some of my favorites thus far.

Hope you’re all having a fabulous weekend! xo

Nice to Pleat You

Halston Heritage pleated silk-chiffon dress $435

Ever since last February when Meghan and I were gallivanting around NYC for Fashion Week, I’ve had my eye on a certain Halston Heritage dress (similar to the one SJP wore to The Met’s Costume Institute Gala back in May.) I saw it in the window of Scoop and literally fell in love. Perhaps because of its retro style or because it just looked like so much fun to dance in….

But here we are months later and though I don’t think I can justify the dress, it’s led me to want a skirt of a similar style for fall. I tried on the Vena Cava for Aqua accordion pleat skirt that was almost spot on, but at the last minute decided against it.

Here are a few of my other favorites…hopefully one of which will soon be hanging in my closet…

Proenza Schouler Accordion Pleat Skirt $860

TopShop Jersey Pleat Mini Skirt $60

Vena Cava for Aqua Accordion-Pleated Silk Skirt $138 at Bloomingdale's

Forever21 Accordion Knit Skirt $14.95

Favorites looks Fashion Week Spring 2011: Day One

If there were no other days in Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, I’d report that right now Spring 2011 is going to be all about lightweight, neutrals and frankly, I can’t complain. I just arrived in New York this evening so while I wasn’t able to see any of these looks in person, here are my favorites of what’s graced the catwalks thus far.

To see the shows I’ll be attending, check out my line up here.

Christian Siriano

Leave it to the half-pint, uber talented Christian Siriano to deliver effortless dresses and his collection today for Spring 2011 did just that. This is one of my favorite looks from the show, but I kind of loved pretty much every one. I also love that he always goes above and beyond, delivering so many looks as Andrea and I were lucky enough to see last February.

Vena Cava

I’m liking the all-white look here with a punch of a red shoe that Vena Cava showcased this afternoon. It may in fact have me breaking out the red pumps I’ve had for five years now, but rarely see the light of day. The eye makeup, however, just does not sit well with me for this look. Right now I’m liking her collection for Bloomingdale’s Aqua brand more than what’s ahead for Spring 2011.

Valerie Mayen

While her color palette was all over the map when it came to her collection, spunky Valerie from the current season of Project Runway had some real hits with her colorful dresses, but I like this little number the best because it just seems so wearable. The cardigan is really versatile as well. Sign me up for the whole look, please!

Christopher Collins

There’s no way I could pull this dress off with my skin tone, but I love the idea. I’ve also been a Christopher Collins advocate from the beginning of this season of Project Runway given that he’s from San Francisco!

Casanova

Well, it’s certainly not “grandmother” for which he became practically known for on PR, but it also totally says Haute Hippie Fall 2010 to me. Nevertheless, I LOVE this dress.

Michael Costello

He may have gotten a bad wrap on the show, but Michael C.’s collection blew me away when I saw photos today. It was cohesive, featured beautiful colors and lots of textural interest and best of all was pure fun.
