The Politics of Fashion

October 16, 2008

There are two passions in my life right now- politics and fashion. In the next few weeks leading up to the election, I’ll be posting my favorite styles of Election ’08. Feel free to email us your favorite political looks! Let’s face it, this year we are facing one of the most intriguing, important and competitive elections in our young nation’s history. If there was a ticket for the most fashionable and savvy presidential supporter in the spotlight, it would definitely go to Michelle Obama. Studying previous First Ladies (not implying anything here), Michelle glows with a contemporary Jackie O aura, her style is sophisticated, classy and trend-setting. I just stumbled upon the most wonderful website MrsO. What a fun way to follow the fashion of Michelle Obama- a breath of fresh air from the constant rumblings from B and J.

Stylists have paid closer attention to Michelle’s understated sense of style and attention to detail. Her style is a cross between Carolina Herrera + Philip Lim, feminine, effortless, chic, and simple. Michelle is a huge fan of Thakoon- she wore the above tweed jacket (priced at $1,750) during the Vice Presidential Debate last week. She also wore a fabulous fuchsia/black cocktail Thakoon dress during the final night of the DNC when her husband who formally accepted the Presidential Nominee. I can’t wait to see what Michelle wears on Nov. 4! Go O!
