G’Day Hugh!

February 13, 2009

While Meghan is off skiing in blissful mountains (have fun ladies), I wanted to report on recent celeb sightings and happenings in New York. Dono- I’m officialy proclaiming myself to be the East Coast Editor, ok? 🙂

Report time!

Event: G-Day USA, hosted by Hugh Jackman and his wife, Deborah Lee-Furness; “Nomad Two Worlds” Opening
Place: Donna Karan’s Urban Zen Center, West Village
Peeps: Hugh Jackman, Anna Wintour, Donna Karan, Allie Hilfiger, Martha Stewart, and jewelry designer Rio Tinto

I had the pleasure of attending the opening of “Nomad Two Worlds” at Donna Karan’s Urban Zen Studio in the West Village a few weeks ago. I thought I would post my thoughts on the event– I sincerely believe every WIT has Hugh Jackman on their list of “most handsome and genuinely nice” celebrities. He is, in fact, even more handsome and humble in person.

Hugh was in town on his G’Day USA tour, and what better way to share his love for Oz-land by featuring Aussie jewelry designer, Rio Tinto. Set in Donna Karan’s spectular (huge!) Urban Zen Studio, Rio debuted a spectacular champagne diamond exhibit featuring three different applications incorporating champagne diamonds from the Argyle mine. Rio Tinto commissioned designers to create one-of-a-kind pieces using Argyle champagne diamonds as a prelude for the 2009 Argyle Champagne Diamond Design competition. Neat!

As I was briefed by a lovely PR rep at the event, there is a huge movement by fine jewelry designers to incorporate Champagne and natural color diamonds into their collections.
