Stunning & sophisticated shoes: Coye Nokes

April 15, 2010

So here is a fun little fact. Back in the day, I (Meghan) used to live in London, England where I attended the American School in London. ASL is an amazing place and the best part is that all those who attended the school (no matter how long or when) remain quite connected through various meetups, newsletters, etc.

So, when I saw that a fellow alum, Coye Nokes, was making absolutely darling ballet flats and stunningly sophisticated pumps (among other styles), I was ecstatic.

As a result of struggling to find comfortable, work appropriate shoes, Coye decided not to complain about the challenge anymore. Instead, like many great designers before her, she put pencil to paper and started designing.

Coye has now debuted her line of “no-nonsense” women’s footwear in all shapes, sizes, heights, styles, and materials. We also got rather excited when one of her designs appeared in this month’s issue of SELF (which, obviously, reminded us that we had a draft of this post still teed up and never completed!)

This is our utter fave:

On a related note, I want the tutti-frutti Kate Spade Skirt and the Rebecca Taylor shirt in those clips so bad that I can hardly stand it!!!

    Also, excellent post!
