Designer Profile: Halston

May 4, 2010

In the 1960s and 1970s Halston made a name for himself as a luxury designer. Nowadays, Halston Heritage takes on the same bold and sleek looks the name has been known for and one of there biggest fans? The label is said to be seen on fictional fashion icon Carrie Bradshaw in the upcoming Sex & the City 2 movie throughout the film (SJP herself is even a fan – see below!) Now there’s a way to get top of mind for all fashionistas. Carrie is wearing the Halston Heritage Deep V Cocktail dress in the movie’s promo poster even. Sleek and fabulous, right?

Halston Hertiage maintans the clean lines and unique feel to its garments and makes a point to design for the modern woman. Halston’s line typically includes jumpsuit pieces as well as other pieces that are easily styled for a variety of occasions. Roy Halston Frowick’s minimalist aesthetic lives on, but the label has definitely run into it’s own roller-coaster of successes and speed bumps no doubt.

One thing we don’t love? The current line is a tad OD’d on the slinky jersey material as seen here:

Do you agree?

What we do love? Sarah Jessica Parker rocking this Halston Pleated Long dress in one of the most gorgeous fabrics we’ve seen in quite some time at the Met’s Costume Institute Gala last night.

A-mazing, right?

You can see Halston’s entire Spring 2010 Ready to Wear collection here. Our personal fav? This fabulous frock:
