A Visit to Landmark Vineyards

On my most recent trip to California I had the pleasure of visiting Landmark Vineyards. I had enjoyed their wine in the past and the property was kind enough to invite me up to check out the winery on one of my (many) trips back out West.

The best part? Two of my best friends are on maternity leave meaning we all took a Monday and met up in wine country for a delightful few hours. We were greeted with tastes of wine, a tour of the gorgeous grounds and then set up in the courtyard for a delicious lunch.

Landmark was founded by a group back in the 70s that included Damaris Deere Ford, great-great-granddaughter of John Deere, inventor of the first steel plow. They are known for their chardonnays and Pinot Noirs but they actually grow many varieties of grapes on property.

The grounds are expansive and include plenty of areas to picnic and you can even play bocce and cornhole!

I’m not one to choose Chardonnays as my favorite kind of white but I have to say there were several of Landmark’s I tasted that I really liked including the 2015 Overlook and 2014 Lorenzo.

This wine was so light and not overly oak-y or buttery. So perfect for a hot day!

One of my favorite parts about the visit? The staff! They couldn’t have been nicer and they were so accommodating for our party that included two little babies. It made me want to recommend this place to everyone visiting Napa. (Given I lived out near wine country for eight years I often get asked for recommendations from friends & family.)

Isn’t this beautiful?

A huge thank you to Landmark Vineyards for the amazing visit. I already can’t wait to visit again on my next visit to Sonoma! It’s a place that holds a piece of my heart for I have so many beautiful memories there with friends <3.

p.s. Everything I learned about wine in France and all of my Paris favorites.
