wit & whimsy I bedroomIn my (nearly) five years of living in New York I have lived in three apartments but my current East Village abode is by far my favorite. I live with two roommates (one a friend from college and one a friend from my first gig in NYC) in a neighborhood I truly can’t get enough of. While my place is five miserable floors up, once you make it (albeit out of breath most of the time) it is a place I always feel lucky to call home. The three bedroom, two bathroom is a hodgepodge of three people’s things as is to be expected when living with roommates but it is cozy and eclectic.

When TaskRabbit reached out to me the other week asking if they could provide a Tasker to help get some things done amidst the busy holiday season, I jumped at the opportunity. I’ve used TaskRabbit for many a task over the years when I needed an extra hand or someone to do something I wasn’t qualified for (which let’s be honest, can be quite a lot when it comes to handy work.) They make everything so easy. Think of a task you need done? TaskRabbit can literally have a skilled, local Tasker at your place that day if you need it. I’ve never had an issue with the quality of work done and I really like the fact that they have reviews of their Taskers. It ensures you are getting someone that you know will do a good job.

This past weekend, TaskRabbit sent over one of their Taskers Katie who was able to hang up frames I’d wanted to adorn my wall for ages (aren’t the 3 prints so cute?) and she gave our apartment a proper clean. It felt like the perfect refresh and allowed me to get so much done that I may have not have gotten to on my to-do list otherwise.

Even better? Our Tasker Katie went above and beyond her prescribed tasks. She fixed a broken chair, tightened a loose toilet seat and even repaired a cabinet whose doors had been busted. She was the most incredible fix it lady and left us with tips as she moved through our home. My roommate promptly ordered the screwdriver she was using (HA!) and when Katie left we couldn’t say enough nice things about the service provided.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing where I live! In need of a task done yourself? From now until 1/15/15 you can use code WHIMSY for $15 off any task!

Well, well, well isn’t this just LOVELY? No wonder I like spending time in your cozy abode. Just wondering when you’ll do something about the 5 flights of stairs…
