Reviewing Breakfast at The Blue Box Cafe I wit & whimsy

After I shared my Breakfast at Tiffany’s editorial post, I remembered you can, in fact, have actual breakfast (or lunch! or tea!) at Tiffany’s Blue Box Cafe that debuted in the Tiffany & Co. flagship on Fifth Avenue just about two years ago.

Breakfast at Tiffany’s – Part Two – The Blue Box Cafe

Getting a reservation at the Blue Box Cafe has remained a challenge since it opened given it only seats 40 people but in my ongoing pursuit of always trying new things in NYC for this guide, I decided to set up Resy alerts to see if I could snag a table when someone cancelled. It took a few weeks of trying but I finally found success.

The cafe is compact and sleek and of course, adorned in Tiffany’s trademark blue color throughout. I did wish for a bit more grandeur, personally. I would have loved a dress code or gorgeous crystal to sip my champagne from. But, like the entire experience – it was cute but not great enough in my opinion. As far as a branded dining experience goes, I think Tiffany & Co. could learn a lot from Ralph’s Coffee.

So now, would I go again?

You may have guessed it already but, nah. It’s wildly over priced and not very good food. You must do one of 3 set menus that range in price from $32-$60 dollars without beverages (except tea which is included). The portions are rather small for the price as well and utterly sacrilegious in my opinion? The stale croissants they were serving up as a starter to those who chose to order breakfast (particularly given the starring role that croissants play in the film!)

Is it fun to go and would I bring a daughter or goddaughter or niece one day? Maybe. But overall I think I’d rather buy myself a coffee and croissant and marvel at jewels in the windows and cases instead of sit in the cafe for overpriced mediocre food.  I do appreciate that breakfast is served all day, however!

You can book here if interested.

That’s too bad. Lovely interior though.

Ralph’s is definitely on my list!
