5 Clean Makeup Favorites

Favorite Clean Makeup I wit & whimsy

If I had to move to a desert island with only five makeup products I’d probably be bringing along these five. Of all the clean beauty products I’ve been testing out for the past nine months these are the best of the best in their category. They also make up the components of a super low maintenance but impactful everyday five minute face to get you ready and looking a bit more alive and a bit more glowy.

Clean Makeup Favorites

On most days, I like my beauty routine to be pretty simple and easy. I like my skin to glow and my makeup to be subtle but impactful. The beauty industry has become so saturated but I love trying new clean beauty brands to see what’s the best of what’s out there.

I have moved my beauty routine more towards organic beauty and makeup and beauty brands that prioritize plant based ingredients. I also think it’s worth noting that your makeup only performs as well as your skin looks. So taking care of your skincare is priority number one! If you’re not sure where to start: A Beginner’s Guide to a Skincare Routine.

Ere Perez Rice Powder Bronzer. This bronzer was such a welcome addition to my routine. It was the best clean dupe for my previous go-to (the Dallas blush by Benefit). I use it daily to add subtle color and contour to my face shape. The matte finish of it makes it great for oily skin like mine. You can use it all over your face as well or just in areas you want some natural looking warmth. I really like that it has dual colors so you can get a natural looking glow.

A pro tip if you’re short on time? You can use this as an eye shadow, too!

RMS Beauty Pressed Blush in Lost Angel. This.blush!! It is so good. It is essentially a clean version of NARS Orgasm. It has the slightest iridescence to it and is the perfect pink-y pink. I love to layer it over my Westman Atelier Baby Cheeks cream blush. Whenever I do so I get major compliments and it really is the best lit-from-within-glow.

Ilia Limitless Lash Mascara. Not holy grail status for me (I still use my un-clean Stila HUGE mascara too much for my liking) but one of the best clean mascaras I have tested. I see why it has won so many awards including the coveted Allure Best of Beauty award. I love that it adds volume and length and doesn’t flake off. It’s great for natural-looking, everyday lashes and it’s particularly great if you have sensitive eyes. So many makeup artists recommend this mascara if you want a clean mascara for every day use.

Ilia Color Haze Multi-Use Pigment. You can use this pigment on both cheeks and lips but I use it as my go-to cream blush. I layer it under the RMS powder blush for a pretty wash of color that gives my face a radiant glow. Waking Up and Temptation are my favorite shades.

Ilia Brow Gel. This gel is so good for building volume and keeping your brows tamed. The best clean brow product I’ve tried by a mile. I don’t have naturally voluminous brows so I love that this has a dual-sided brush that not only applies the gel but that also builds up volume that actually stays throughout the day.

Next I want to try more from Tower 28 and Saie Beauty. I already love Ilia Beauty, Westman Atelier and Merit Beauty when it comes to clean makeup brands. And as you test out clean brands, be sure to look at retailers like Follain and Credo Beauty who help take some of the guess work out of analyzing ingredient lists.

I have heard so many amazing things about Ilia but haven’t given it a try yet! I am planning on shopping the Sephora sale this afternoon and will definitely be ordering the mascara!
