Fashion Week Spring 2011: Z Spoke by Zac Posen

September 12, 2010

I’ve watched Zac Posen for a couple years now and profiled him last year because of an edgy and flirty frock Rihanna wore that had me swooning and now this past Fall Zac launched the newest counterpart to his namesake label, Z Spoke.

I like Zac’s work for being unexpected and playful and while I wouldn’t say all of his pieces from the Z Spoke collection are all that wearable, he certainly has a fan following as I watched the show with Claire Danes, Carmen Electra, Kristin Cavallari, Kimora Lee and Russell Simmons, Jay Manuel, Estelle and Michelle Trachtenberg (among others, I’m sure).

The Spring 2011 collection featured a wide mix of fabrics including silk, voile, raglan and jersey. The looks were playful and came in a variety of bright colors like yellows and reds, contrasted with blacks and grays. The models had uber curly hair pinned atop their head, massive amounts of intense eye color and sparkly glasses that were reminiscent of the 1950s (like at Cynthia Rowley).

Here are some of the looks that were watched by 1,300+ people at the Lincoln Center yesterday evening.

Favorite look from the Z Spoke collection.

Zac’s take on the pant suit.

Really like this dress as well because of the flirty details.

I was far from the runway in the massive Theater tent so only took a few pics, but here are a couple:

Carmen Electra looking good for a near 40 year old. I want my hair to barrel curl like this btw!
