I’ve mentioned before that my first job in high school was at a stationery store. I still think of it as one of my favorite jobs ever. I fell in love with paper and was fascinated by people’s choices for birth announcements, wedding invitations and of course during our busiest time of the year…holiday cards!

Picking out my holiday cards is one of my favorite parts of the season. I scour the internet to find one that I love best and find such joy in hand addressing, writing little notes and sealing them closed with a stamp while playing Christmas music with a seasonal candle lit (yes this is seriously what my process looks like!)

I actually used to make my cards. One of my mentors and friends from the shop had taught me the art of hand embossing, stamping and ribbon tying and for years I used to take on hefty endeavors to craft my cards. Nowadays that process isn’t realistic with my schedule but I still take care to choose something I love.

Since I’m single (holler – send eligible bachelors to meghan@witwhimsy.com please – ha!) I generally don’t do photo cards (#partyof1) but this year I’m actually considering doing it! I kind of love the idea of shooting some holiday inspired looks like this darling fair isle sweater from Gap Factory and some other festive attire and compiling a card that is part wit & whimsy. Thoughts? Taking all suggestions as I wittle down my card choices for this season!

I was thinking this morning how I really want to send out Christmas cards but I’m single too, hahaha. Maybe I’ll do one of the pup this year? I say go for it! Why not?!
