Fitbit Inspire 2 Review

I’ve always been a fairly active person but it took a global pandemic and a lot of time at home to drive me to finally get a fitness watch. After a lot of research and polling my Instagram audience, I decided to get the newest FitBit on the market – the FitBit Inspire 2. A fitness watch is a great companion no matter when you are on your fitness journey – just starting out or a regular pro working out often.  Today I’m going to share my honest review on the FitBit Inspire 2.

Fitbit Inspire 2 Review:

So what are the benefits of a fitness watch? I was looking for a fitness watch for accountability so I would ensure I was moving more throughout the day and increasing the steps I took daily. Fitness watches can help motivate as well as help you set and achieve goals. Many fitness watches also track your sleep and monitor heart rate. So you can get a better sense of overall well-being.

FitBit Inspire 2 Fitness Tracking

It’s been years since I’ve had any sort of fitness tracker. So I wasn’t sure what to expect in terms of the options on the market. I knew I wanted something as slim as possible and wanted it to track steps. But also be able to log sleep, workouts and water.

During the global pandemic beginning in 2020 I became far less active. I was confined to my home and then my neighborhood and was no longer doing my regular workout classes. I knew a fitness watch would help me get motivated and be more in tune with my wellbeing.

Watches like the FitBit Inspire 2 are designed for fitness tracking primarily so this smartwatch tracks things like cardio fitness, regular everyday activity like steps and calories burned, active zone fat burning, your heart rate and you can also log activities such as swimming, biking, running, weight lifting, etc.

FitBit Inspire 2 Design

the best fitness watch

I love the slim, sleek design of the FitBit Inspire 2. It’s lightweight, not bulky and can easily be worn under clothing, while you sleep and worn alongside your daily jewelry. I sleep with my FitBit on every night for sleep monitoring without issue. The Inspire 2 band is made of a premium, comfortable silicone (similar to that used in many sport watches) and fastens with a plastic buckle and tang so it is easy to take on and off as needed.

The band is also waterproof so wear it in the shower or the pool without worry. The band easily charges with a super small USB cord making it easy to travel with and have with you at all times.

The FitBit features a button on either side of the band that’s detected with pressure and will light up the screen or allow you to enable a Sleeping or Do Not Disturb Feature. You’re also able to set a timer and stopwatch from your tracker.

The FitBit Inspire 2 is available in two sizes: Small (Fits wrist 5.5″ – 7.1″ in circumference) and Large (fits wrist 7.1″ – 8.7″ in circumference). The dimensions of the device itself are 1.47″ long x .66″ wide x .5″ high and it comes in 3 color options but you can also switch out the brand for different designs depending on what you’re wearing.

FitBit Inspire 2 Features

how to find the right fitness watch

The FitBit Inspire 2 light-up screen will give you access and notifications about your fitness levels and heart rate but you can also sync it with your phone’s bluetooth to get schedule notifications as well as notifications about calls and texts if you’d like to enable them. I like being able to easily access and track my resting heart rate and steps with just a few taps on the FitBit Inspire 2 screen.

The Fitbit app is compatible with most popular phones and tablets and you’ll pair your FitBit with the FitBit app. The app has a sleek interface that shows you your stats for the day and lets you log workouts, Active Zone Minutes, meditation (aka “mindfulness” or breathing exercises) and water intake as well as diet details. You can also track weight gain and loss should you choose.

In the app you’ll also be served a Sleep Score every morning should you choose to sleep with your FitBit Inspire 2 on.

The app also allows Menstrual Cycle tracking for females to help you get more in tune with your cycle.

The FitBit Inspire 2 comes with a free year of FitBit Premium which promises more personalized insights through a Health Metrics hub on the app. After your free year FitBit Premium is $9.99/month or $79.99/year if you pay for the year upfront.

FitBit Inspire 2 Battery Life

The tracker promises 10 days of battery life. But I find it lasts a bit longer than that which I appreciate. I find I charge it every two weeks or so and it charges very quickly (in an under an hour) so you’re not left without it on your wrist for too long. Just use the included USB charging cable and plug it into your computer to re-up the battery.

My FitBit Inspire 2 Pros:

I love that it is extremely lightweight, it is slim and the face clear and easy to read.

This FitBit does a good job of motivating you to move with Move Reminders and to keep it up to fit in 250 steps here and there. I also like that it “celebrates” when you hit your goal each day. And sends you weekly progress reports via email. I also love that it automatically tracks easily identifiable workouts such as walks and running and auto-populates them into your workout log. The step counts are extremely accurate I’ve found.

For other workouts, tracking them is really easy and the band – provided you tighten it during your workouts – does a great job of getting accurate reads on heart rate and calorie burn.

The features of the watch and the app combined have definitely helped me to create better, more sustainable healthy habits.

The FitBit Inspire 2 Cons:

I wish the Fitbit was more responsive when I turn my wrist to get the time. Often I have to press the button because it doesn’t light up.

I also wish the FitBit Inspire 2 came with a better introductory video or tutorial on how to use the tracker. Because I think the brand assumed everyone was upgrading and familiar with the FitBit interface and features. I had to search on YouTube to get familiar with how to set up the device and how to use the app efficiently.

I don’t find the sleep tracking to be incredibly accurate. As it often doesn’t register accurate times of falling asleep and waking. So I think this feature could be improved.

I would like to see FitBit increase the types of workouts it allows you to track. There’s no option for HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training). And a few others I’d like to track as the app only has 20 exercise modes at this time.

I’ve personally not tried the FitBit Inspire, the FitBit Versa or FitBit Sense. So I’m not able to compare but if you have I’d love for you to leave a comment below.

Hope you find this review helpful! Overall I’m happy with the addition of the FitBit Inspire 2 into my routine.

Meghan, this is awesome! I have an ALTA and use My Fitness Pal app to track my cardio classes – it’s helpful if you are looking to track! Have you found any cute wrist band replacements? That’s another struggle for me!

I ordered one metal band and hated it so returned it and then gave up my hunt for the time being while I’m not getting as dressed as usual ha! Great to know that you can sync the app with your band – thank you so much for the rec, Molly!
