The Perfect Flat Shoes

Today’s post is the second installment in my new Fall series – French Girl Closet Staples! To me, effortless French style is personified in beautiful flats that are both chic and comfortable. So this week’s post in the series is dedicated to the perfect French-inspired flat that just so happens to be one of my favorite shoes.

The Perfect Flat Shoes

You may recognize the Sarah Flint Natalie shoe as I’ve worn it before on wit & whimsy including in this post and this post. It’s truly a favorite shoe of mine as it manages to be both feminine, timeless and comfortable all in one. The moment I add it to an outfit I instantly feel more put together – it’s *that* kind of shoe! You know the one, right? Where you slip your feet in and feel a dose of happiness and instant readiness to step outside and take on the day.

When Sarah Flint asked that I helped celebrate the shoe’s birthday I was so excited to share one of the new styles they released in honor of the occasion. Today Sarah Flint released the beloved shoe in both a deep velvet navy and a beautiful and delicate jacquard.

One of the reasons I love the Natalie so much is because it can be worn a myriad of ways which is one of my criteria when it comes to investment pieces. The Natalie looks great with jeans, with a classic black pant, with a special occasion dress when you don’t want to wear a heel and even with select skirts. Today I’m sharing it styled in two ways for Fall to give you inspiration for the months ahead!

First Look

This first look is what I’d wear to a meeting, my co-working space or coffee or dinner with a friend. Black and navy is a favorite color combination of mine and I love that the Sarah Flint Natalie in Navy Suede is a deep, rich navy and not too cobalt.

Second Look

And look two is all about making the Natalie work for casual Fall knits you’d wear on the weekend to brunch, to explore a neighborhood with a friend or wear to work.

When The Natalie first launched it sold out in 24 hours…and then sold out again two more times! Meghan Markle has been seen in the shoe and at one point it had a waitlist of 25,000! If that doesn’t tell you what a timeless and worthwhile shoe this is…

To me, I want my investment shoes to elevate my overall outfit.

Since I wear a lot of timeless silhouettes and neutrals, I want the shoe to stand out but also add, not detract from the overall look. The Natalie flat is perfect for that. I wear it often when walking miles and miles in New York City and Paris and love that shoe features 3mm of extra padding on the footbed for increased comfort. The shoe fits true to size for medium-width feet but if you have wider feet you can also try a 1/2 size up. They’ll be comfortably snug when you first wear them and then they just get better and better with wear as they mold to your feet.

My recent move and the pandemic have only heightened my desire for less stuff and more quality pieces. I find myself always reaching for the pieces I know make me happy and I know are comfortable so I’ll continue this philosophy I’ve been following for the last several years. This type of shopping is what inspired the French Girl Closet Staples series!

The Sarah Flint Natalie now comes in more than 10 colors/patterns so you’re sure to find one that fits your style!

You all know by know that I take my investment pieces seriously and only invest in items I truly love and will wear often and the Sarah Flint Natalie is definitely that. I can’t wait to wear the new Navy shade with all my beloved ivory sweaters and favorite tweed jackets all Fall and Winter long. And of course…in Paris whenever I have the chance to return!

Love love that first look! The navy is such a perfect shade!

  2. I think I need to finally relent and order myself a pair of these shoes; they are just so chic and I love the classic silhouette with that little minimalist bow on the side. And absolutely love how you’ve styled these; so chic, and I’m sure any Parisian would absolutely approve 😉
