wit & whimsy's March 2017 Favorites

I have to first apologize for this post not going live at 6AM EST like most posts do. Yesterday I had such an insane day and I was up late working on client deliverables till about 11PM that when I finally went to close my eyes it was only then that I realized I hadn’t finished writing this post…oy! But hey, life happens and instead of beating myself up about it, I gave myself a break and now here we are finally going live.

Anyhow, delays aside, I’m sharing today my latest monthly musings of things I’ve used all month and really loved. All random, all great.

(Also, a huge thanks to all of you who have taken this year’s reader survey! I am seriously feeling so energized and inspired by all your replies and can’t thank you enough for taking time out of your day to respond. If you haven’t had a chance yet, I’d still love to hear from you!)

The Couple Next Door:

You guys, this book! If you loved Gone Girl you will love this book. Upon looking for some good book recommendations, Jess tipped me off to this book and I’m so glad she did as I read it under 48 hours! It helped me to make up for the fact that I failed to read a book in February (I’m trying to read a book a month this year!) and reinvigorated me to pick up an additional book this month which I also highly recommend. This book is a great page turner and I couldn’t have loved it more as an easy read.

The Super Elixir:

So, let’s be honest here: I am not a very health eater. I eat way too much pasta and pizza, don’t drink enough water and have a major sweet tooth. That being said, whenever I can find a little improvement when it comes to my diet, it is a major win. Therefore when I can remember, I started adding Elle Macpherson’s Super Elixir to one glass of water a day (usually in the morning) because it is formulated to help your body maintain a healthy pH balance. It has 45 natural ingredients (!) and actually tastes great. It looks gross (drinking green water isn’t the most appealing thing I’ve ever done) but given all the goodness in the 2 tsps of the powder I buck up and down it. It even includes Chinese herbs which I know the value of from my acupuncturist. Whether I’ll start to look like Elle soon is still TBD but for now (and maybe it is placebo), I feel good (and more energized) after drinking the Super Elixir and the canister is pretty enough to leave out on your countertop so you’re reminded to drink up! (Side note: this stuff is not cheap by any means but there is a ton of it in each canister so I’m going to guess it’ll last at least several months.)

LaCroix:

I’ll admit it you guys, I am 100% on board with the LaCroix obsession sweeping the country. Pamplemousse is my favorite flavor (also happens to be one of my favorite words in the French dictionary!) but I stock at least three flavors in my kitchen at all times now and am constantly reaching for one in the afternoon when working from home. Anyone else obsessed?

Cuyana Mini Bucket Bag:

I have been toting this bag with me everywhere this month. And each time I take it out I get a compliment or get asked where I got it! As far as bags go it looks just as expensive as a bag that may cost over $600 but is under $230. It’s roomy enough to fit everything I need as I run around town with a lesser load. If you’re on more of a budget, this bucket bag is similar in look to my Cuyana one. I actually highly recommend Forever21’s bags. Somewhat surprising I know but the quality is rather good. I own a few of their bags and they are great for nights out.

philosophy Microdelivery Triple-Acid Brightening Peel:

I’m a big fan of peel pads (see this post) and these philosophy ones work so well to brighten that they are almost addictive. When I was first introduced to them I was surprised one of the acids in the formula wasn’t glycolic which is known to exfoliate but these chemical peel pads contain instead mandelic, phytic and azelaic acids that dissolve and sweep away dead skin cells to help improve skin tone. After a few uses your skin is brighter, smoother and every product you apply afterwards looks instantly better on your face.

p.s. my February favorites and ways to achieve beauty sleep.

Yay! So glad you loved the book as much as I did. I’ve been in a little reading rut lately, but I’m hoping to dive into a new book soon 🙂 And I want to try those peel pads, stat.
