Out and About in San Francisco: The Ferry Building!

June 25, 2008

With summer in full swing, spending a Saturday morning at the Ferry Building Farmer’s Market is a must-do for anyone living or visiting San Francisco. When I’m feeling especially motivated, I throw on my tennies and run along the Embarcadero down to AT&T Park, ending at the Ferry Building and rewarding myself with a Peet’s coffee and some fresh flowers from the ever gorgeous selection. Blue and white hydrangeas, peonies, sweet peas, gerbers and bright sunflowers are just some of my favorites! Not to mention the start of cherry season!

The Ferry Building is an SF institution, and even if you had a few too many cocktails on Friday night, there are many great spots to visit in the building any day of the week. A foodie’s paradise, here is my list of favorites at the Ferry Building:
The Slanted Door restaurant (my birthday choice three years and running)

Miette Patisserie (two words: princess cake)

Sur La Table (perfect to pick up some goodies for a WIT cocktail party)

Ciao Bella Gelato (pumpkin gelato in the fall is not to be missed)

Mijita (great for beer and tacos)

Marketbar (on a sunny day, have brunch or a post-work cocktail on the patio)

Taylor’s Refresher (burgers with good california wine? yes please!)
