Paris in the Spring Packing List

There’s a reason that so many songs feature lyrics about springtime in Paris – it’s an absolutely beautiful time to visit the City of Light. I love returning to Paris in the spring as it begins to bloom and Spring remains one of the most popular times for my En Route to Rêverie clients to visit as well.

I’m rather adept at packing for Paris in any season so consider this post a handy check list to get you prepared to be stylish, comfortable and well prepared for Paris in the spring! Freshly updated for all Paris trips this coming season.

Paris weather in April and Springtime in general can be unpredictable. And I find it always rains – even if just for a little bit – every time I visit Paris. (Here is the umbrella I always bring with me to Paris!) So I do my best to be prepared for a variety of seasons when traveling to Paris and hope for the most Spring weather that Mother Nature will allow. Track the weather carefully in the days before you leave for your trip and then pack and plan accordingly!

Spring in Paris Packing List

1. Leather Jacket

I always pack a leather jacket when going to Paris. It makes for the perfect topper at night and it also layers well under trench coats I find. I love pairing it with little black dresses but also with jeans, long sleeve tees and silk tanks.

2. Silk Tank

A silk tank paired with a leather jacket and jeans is one of my go-to outfits for going out in Paris on a more casual night. I love this tank by MM.LaFleur because the silk is washable! This is another one I often pack for Paris by the brand. This brand’s silk travels really well in particular. A few spritzes of this Wrinkle Releaser and I am usually good to go.

3. Basic Tee

I bring a basic tee in white and in black for every trip. This one from MM.LaFleur is a favorite as it has a great fit, a thick fabric that makes sure it travels well and slightly longer sleeves making it really flattering to wear on its own or layered.

4. Black Pants

While I wear jeans a lot, I always pack a pair of black pants in my suitcase. I like to pair them with little jackets and ballet flats for an Audrey Hepburn inspired look. This pair from Talbots is comfy and flattering. I also love the M.M.LaFleur Curie Pants.

5. Crossbody Bag

My neutral work horse of a bag that goes easily from daytime to nighttime. Similar styles for less by APC.

6. Striped Tee

I always bring a striped tee in my suitcase when going to Paris and spring is no exception. I own striped tees in a variety of colors but love a navy and white combo like this one this time of year.

7. Sunglasses

A practical yet chic pair of sunglasses. This brand has a lot of affordable styles for both men and women.

8. Common Projects Sneakers

My do-it-all sneakers that I wear with black pants, jeans, dresses and even skirts. Read my full Common Projects Sneakers Review.

9. Striped Sweater

This is my favorite year-round striped knit. I own it in three colors because it is great for travel. Lightweight yet warm but not too warm. It’s not too thick making it perfect for not taking up too much room in your suitcase. I size up to a Large in this style.

10. Travel Umbrella

It is highly likely you’ll encounter rain in Paris in Spring so be sure you pack my favorite Travel Umbrella.

11. Converse Sneakers

Casual sneakers for daytime outings.

12. Straight Leg Jeans

The perfect versatile jean to wear with each shoe I’ll be bringing. This brand is my favorite for my Paris trips and this new style is really chic and on trend without being overly trendy. See them on here.

13. Cashmere Tee

As you will likely encounter a chillier day in Paris in the springtime (in 2022 it snowed in Paris on April 1!), I like to bring a sweater or two and find that a cashmere tee ends up being a great layering piece in particular. This one comes in a variety of pretty colors. I size up for a roomier fit.

14. Lace Top

I always bring a lace top of some kind with me to Paris to wear out in the evenings and this one is particularly perfect for springtime. Shop more below.

15. Versatile Blazer

I love this versatile blazer for travel because it doesn’t wrinkle too much and it can easily be dressed up or dressed down. I own it in the Camel and the Black. It’s perfect for pairing with silk tanks and striped or regular tees for nighttime or daytime styling.

16. Evening Bag

For nights out on the Parisian town. This is my favorite little mini evening bag. It doesn’t fit lots but does fit the essentials! You can shop more of My Bag Collection as well.

17. Silk Scarf

I bring a few scarves every time I go to Paris as they can add a beautiful accessory moment to more simple, tailored outfits. Tie them on your bags, around your wrist or around your neck throughout your trip. Toteme always has some beautiful ones as well and so does French brand Sezane.

18. Trench Coat

No trip to Paris in the spring is complete without a trench coat. It’ll likely be your most worn piece. I highly recommend one with a hood like this one! I love that the hood is detachable.

Paris Packing Tips For Spring

Use packing cubes

If you want to maximize your packing, I definitely recommend some packing cubes and don’t miss my other Travel Essentials.

Prepare for rain

Check the weather as you pack and just before you go! And regardless of the time of year you can almost always expect it to rain in Paris. But fear not, as I’ve got you covered: What To Do in Paris When It Rains. Don’t forget to have a good umbrella (this is the one I bring) in your suitcase and also I never go to Paris without a trench coat.

Stick to a color palette

I always stick to a color palette when I pack for trips but especially with Paris. I want my looks to be stylish yet comfortable and extremely ready for mix and match wear. I’ll pack a blazer that can go with jeans as easily as it can go over a dress or pair with dress shorts or dress pants.

I’m a neutrals person when it comes to my wardrobe so usually my looks fall in a variety of color palettes such as: Black/Ivory/Camel or Black/Cream/Navy.

Be thoughtful when planning what shoes to wear

I’ve heard of so many people being unprepared to walk so much in Paris. Paris is a city best explored on foot and I usually clock on average 25,000 steps a day when there. Be sure you’re not bringing new shoes with you that still need breaking in. Prioritize comfort but also give consideration to what walking shoes in Paris will not have you looking like a tourist. Say it with me: comfortable shoes are a must.

The Best Shoes to Wear in Paris

And know that cobblestoned streets are common in Paris so you’ll want to leave the stilettos at home. I think the pair of shoes you bring is one of the most important decisions you can make when packing for a week in Paris.
