I’ve spent the majority of this weekend asking myself tough questions and seeking out resources to better understand the racism that continues in our country. I’ve struggled to find any words to put down about how I’ve felt. I do know that I am committed to better educating myself on how to be more actively anti-racist and to be a better ally. I admit that I do find this a topic that’s hard to talk about and I have spent the last week trying to settle how I feel - and worried to say the wrong thing or to admit inadequacy in my knowledge or lack there of on certain fronts. But I don’t want to be complacent or silent. I will be more actionable moving forward. I will continue to seek out resources and I will continue to try and be better and do better and stay on the line. Words + image via @cleowade 🖤

What’s something that’s made you happy this week? Can be the biggest thing or the smallest thing - anything counts! For me it’s fresh flowers in my apartment. Such an affordable little treat when picked up at a corner bodega and they truly brighten my days.

Logged 13,000 steps to and from Tribeca today to go to @commonpoint.care for the first time since February. In the past year Acupuncture has played a huge role in improving my health by lessening my anxiety and minimizing my chronic headaches. Being without my 2-3x per month appointments for the last 3 months has been incredibly hard so when the clinic was approved to re-open with new protocols in place (I needed a note from my GP to indicate the appt was medically necessary, for one and had to sign new waivers about receiving the treatment in the age of Covid-19) I booked after some careful consideration. My mental health needed the treatment and I’m hopeful that my headaches, anxiety and sleep will all benefit from the care. Grateful more than ever for our caretakers, our healthcare heroes and those taking so many extra precautions to keep us safe and healthy 💕🙏🏻

#BBG Weeks 1-4 progress!⁣

I started quarantine instantly missing my 1-2x week hot yoga class. Hot yoga was always therapeutic to me. It cleared my mind and soothed my emotions as much as it stretched my body. I also missed my boxing and Pilates classes. But at the onset of the pandemic my motivation was ZERO.⁣
⁣
But as days turned into weeks I needed to move so I dipped my toe into at home yoga classes and sculpt classes but could barely pay attention for more than 10 minutes. So I focused on 10-15 minute core classes. ⁣
⁣
But then weeks turned into months so by mid April I decided I need to do something for my mental health and to help offset my comfort food and baking habits. Enter: my return to @sweat BBG by @kayla_itsines. The one program I’ve had noticeable results with. I’ve done BBG Beginner, 1.0 and half of 2.0 - from July 2018 through July 2019. Then I had my skin cancer surgery and never revisited the program as I healed...⁣

Until now and DAMN has it felt good. This challenging program pushes me and the sweating has felt like an emotional cleanse. I can’t tell you JUST HOW GOOD the sweat felt the first week I picked back up the program 🥵. I nearly cried because it felt so good. A slice of normalcy and something to remind myself that I can take a challenge and I can push myself. I’m now 5 weeks in and sharing today on wit & whimsy my foray back into the program plus answering all the questions you guys submitted to me!⁣

For me finding my way back to BBG has so been rewarding. So hard. But so rewarding. Realizing I was in London this week two years ago really sent me down a rabbit hole of photos of #LondoninBloom. May in London is magical with all the floral installations alongside the Chelsea Flower Show and I literally cannot wait to return one day to see all the blooming sights again.
