Meghan Donovan of wit & whimsy in Porto, Portugal

When planning my trip to Portugal the thing I was most excited about was seeing all the tile work I had heard and seen about. But I have to say that I was totally blown away by it all in real life. The detailed tiles are everywhere and make for such fun sightseeing.

Carmelitas, Porto, Portugal | Blue and White in Portugal

These were some of my favorite snaps of the classic blue and white tiles that are certainly the most popular in the places we visited ion Portugal. As you can tell as well, in certain spaces Portuguese artists use tiles as a way to tell stories by painting on them and assembling them on church walls, on ceilings and in locations like train stations. These were some of my favorite pops of blue and white I discovered in both Porto and Lisbon. But there are so many other colors to be seen! I will share more details on exact spots when I publish my Porto + Lisbon guides as well. (P.S. I also loved how this Instagram and this Instagram turned out!)
