Styling a Midi Skirt in Winter

White Midi Skirt I wit & whimsy

I generally don’t make great use of my more Spring items during the colder months because I swap out most of my wardrobe according to the seasons. As in, thanks to tiny NY apartments and closets, most of my spring/summer wardrobe is currently hiding under my bed and not really part of my nightly “what am I going to wear tomorrow” routine.

This skirt was an exception though and I’m glad I kept it in my closet because I love being able to remix older pieces in surprising ways. A white midi skirt isn’t something I’d normally style for winter but think it works when layers + some good ol’ basic black was added.

After getting my act more together on being a tidier person (putting everything away before you go to bed is really kind of a magical thing!) and starting out the year vowing to myself to buy less and really make what I already own work for me, I have to say I’m kind of enjoying re-discovering what is in my closet. [Item One in evidence and Item Two.]

I think one of the biggest pitfalls of having a personal style blog is you constantly feel like in order to monetize you must be wearing things currently available. It’s easy to be spending, spending, spending thinking it is a way to make money but guess what? You never know if you’ll recoup that money back so these days I’m investing in my personal finances instead of my wardrobe as much as I used to. Any other bloggers out there with me on that front?

Love the look! I’m with you on saving on your wardrobe. I made a bit move across the country late last year, so I haven’t really purchased anything new in the past 6 months or so. It’s allowed me to allocate more money to experiences and also look at my closet differently and really re-work pieces I already own (and love)! — SC at http://www.samanthachic.com

Where do you buy those sunglasses? I love that style but can never find them?
