Styled 3 Ways: color pops

March 2, 2011

My friend Jenny recently started a tumblr and I absolutely adore reading it each day because all the photos are just so happy, so fashionable and so refreshing. My favorite series of hers? “Color Pops” (see here, here and here). Henceforth, it’s to ms. jenny aka: bunny days, that I dedicate this post.

Nothing seems quite as simple to inspire you to transition your winter wardrobe into spring than adding in some perfect pops of color in an outift to brighten it up, add some unexpected elements and cause a little eye-catching second glances (don’t deny it, you personally love ’em). While I love all these “pops,” I’m still crushing on this color overall, however.

Check out the color pop infused outfit ideas below. And, see one of my own here, as well.

A bright blouse is the easiest way to pop into color by investing in a piece that you can style in many ways if you can’t bring yourself to pony up for bright shoes or a bag. If you go with a loud color like  yellow, be sure to subdue the rest of your look by streamling it and avoiding a lot of texture or over-accessorizing.

Electric blue is one of my favorite colors to use as a “pop” and pairing shoes with another, smaller accessory like a cocktail ring in the same color, makes the look coherent.

A great, structured bag in a stunning color can make all the difference when it comes to an overrall look, especially if you tend to dress in a lot of neutrals, like myself. I rely on my Foley + Corinna bag to pull this off for me on a near daily basis.

  2. Yellow is by far my favorite pop of color. Too bad I don’t own that much of it. Although in my post today I am wearing it. 🙂

Great choices. I particularly love the first one. A yellow blouse is on my wish list for this season.

i must agree…number 1 is my favorite, too! that was the most fun one to style as well. i’m dying for the perfect shade of yellow in a billowing blouse to pair with a black mini. let me know if you see any 🙂

Loving all these suggestions!! My giant coral orangey Marc Jacobs tote carried me through the dreary winter months of browns and blacks and will carry over splendidly to spring and summer.
