How to: The best new smoky eye

March 21, 2010

We’re crushing on some new shadows and they’re from professional makeup artist Christopher Drummond. As we sought after sexy, smoky and sultry eyes for our sleepless Vegas nights this past weekend, we fell in love with the gorgeous shades that were long-lasting, dramatic and high-intensity.

CD’s highly reflective eyeshadows apply easily and blend well with other shades and shadows to create lovely and wearable looks for day or night. Our favorite new combo? Let us break it down for you. It’s the best smoky eye we’ve done.

Step 1: Cover your lids entirely with Benefit Cosmetics’ velvet shadow in ‘Where There’s Smoke.’

Step 2: Create contrast with Benefit Cosmetics’ ‘Stiletto‘ cream shadow by painting a ‘v’ in the outer corner of your lids with this deep aubergine shade.

Step 3: Sweep Christopher Drummond’s ‘Mystique’ eye color over your lids, going lightly in the outer corner where you applied the cream shadow. Tip: hold a tissue under your eye while doing so to avoid having the lightweight color smear onto your cheeks at all.

Step 4: Blend Bare Escentuals’ ‘Celestine’ shadow above your lid and all the way up to your brow line.

Step 5: Finish your eyes with black eyeliner surrounding the eye. Add extra liner on the insider lower lid halfway beginning at the outer corner for added drama. Coat lashes with our very favorite mascara, Fiberwig by applying two coats to both bottom and top lashes.

Voila!
