on weddings & the wedding ringer

January 6, 2015

A fun fact about me that I’ve never shared before is that I have actually been a bridesmaid six times already. The year 2015 marks my seventh and most important role as part of a wedding party as I am serving as the Maid of Honor for my very best friend, Andrea, when she gets married this coming summer.

If you’ve ever been a bridesmaid you know the host of activities you participate in, help with and get to be a part of. If you’ve never been part of a bridal party, your time will come and you’ll know exactly how much fun it can be. As Andrea’s MOH I am busy planning her bachelorette party which I am SO excited about. However, it is my first time doing so, and let’s just say the stress is real. You have to pick a place, confirm participants, source accommodations, put together a terrific itinerary, ensure there are some excellent surprises and be the point of contact for all the gals coming along. If you have tips or recommendations for planning a bachelorette party or for Austin, Texas – do send them my way!

On the topic of wedding parties, I am counting down to seeing The Wedding Ringer in theaters on January 16th. The movie looks absolutely hilarious and the story goes like this…

Doug Harris (Josh Gad) is a loveable but socially awkward groom-to-be with a problem: he has no best man. With less than two weeks to go until he marries the girl of his dreams (Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting), Doug is referred to Jimmy Callahan (Kevin Hart), owner and CEO of Best Man, Inc., a company that provides flattering best men for socially challenged guys in need. What ensues is a hilarious wedding charade as they try to pull off the big con, and an unexpected budding bromance between Doug and his fake best man Jimmy.

In the trailer (see it here!), you can see how much Josh Gad wants to please his future wife and the band of guys pulled together for his groomsmen is well…eclectic. They undergo a whole host of activities in order to pull off the lie that they have a shared history, and I can’t wait to see the rest when the full movie hits theaters.

Be sure to check out the hilarious Wedding Ringer Photo Bomb feature they have running online right now, and I hope you’ll go check out the film next week!
