2017 Best of Beauty: My Favorite Discoveries of the Year

Best Beauty of 2017 I wit & whimsy

I actually meant to share this post before 2017 wrapped but then I allowed myself to revel in the last few days in Colorado so am finally getting it up today!

I try out so many products every year with the goal of sharing my favorites every month with you. It’s one of the parts I love most about this blog! At the end of the year I like to look back at those that rose to the top as favorite new MVPs so here today are those beauty products I loved most in 2017!

Shiseido Future Solution LX Collection:

I became a real junkie for this line this year. I use the serum, night cream and day cream nearly daily. The SPF lotion is also really great. You can read more about it in this post. They’re really pricey but I do feel like I see them going to work almost immediately.

Darphin Fibrogene Line Response Nourishing Cream:

Putting this cream on always feels like a luxury and it immediately plumps skin and makes it look like you’ve just applied an Instagram filter.

MAC Cosmetics ‘Prep + Prime’ Natural Radiance BasE:

This year this became my go-to to prep my skin for makeup. It goes on so well and gives this soft glow that makes your makeup look even better on. My makeup always looks its best after I use this!

Urban Decay Meltdown Makeup Remover Lip Oil Stick:

If you like a long-wear lipstick but hate taking it off, don’t delay and just hit “buy” on this. It is so great at removing those more stubborn lip color formulas without the aggressive tissue rub-off attempts.

dr.brandt Magnetight Age-Defier Mask:

Not only is this mask so fun to use because you remove the formula with a magnet, it really goes to work to improve your skin’s texture and revitalize its appearance. You can read more about it in this post.

UMA Wellness Oil:

I apply a few drops of this on my inner wrists before bed and as I fall asleepI  enjoy inhaling the calming smell. It’s on the pricier side but despite using it almost every night of 2017, I have barely made a dent in the bottle so I know it’ll last me for a long while. If you experience any kind of anxiety, I can’t recommend it enough. You can also use it on the airplane or even at the onset of a stressful day.

Caudalie Premier Cru Eye Cream:

This ranks up there with the best eye creams I’ve tried and was my go-to this year. I tend to have bad skin reactions to lots of eye creams I try but this one time and time again delivered smoothing and firming and made me look more awake. (If you’re looking for a good drugstore eye cream, I’d recommend this one.)

SKINCEUTICALS HYLARONIC ACID INTENSIFIER:

This serum provides the effects of drinking tons of water in just one easy application. You can use it day or night but it gives the perfect drink of hydration to your skin so it looks renewed and revitalized. I found the last two weeks combining it with this mask has been magic.

Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Yogurt Body Wash:

This is a great drugstore find. I generally don’t love a lot of body washes but this one is creamy and lathers so well. It cleanses + moisturizes which I love given I’m not a huge fan of body lotion. (Does anyone have a body lotion they love!? I use body oil from time to time but I really generally skip this step post-shower!)

This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray:

I love using this spray every night before bed. It may all be placebo but I do think I sleep better since starting to use it ;).

Drunk Elephant TLC Sukari BabyFacial:

If I had to rank my favorite beauty products from this post, this one would be found at #1. I absolutely love the effects of its exfoliation and the many friends I have convinced to buy it have reported back the same enthusiasim.

There you have it! The products I tested and loved in 2017. Did you find any new products you couldn’t get enough of last year!? I’d love to hear about them in the comments!

I’ve heard so many good things about the Drunk Elephant brand!! While it can be pricey, I definitely think paying a little more for skincare can work wonders. I may have to check that out!
