What a few days I’ve had being back stateside. I got in late from the Caribbean on Wednesday night, promptly passing out in my bed and on Thursday, this tragedy happened which had my roommates and I staying at our friend Carrie’s. We live just a few buildings down from where the explosion and damage happened. Until last night, we’d been advised not to stay overnight in our place and so it was rather lucky that I had a previously scheduled trip down to visit my godmother for the weekend in Washington.
As I always do, I had such an amazing time with her trying out wonderful restaurants, brunching with blood marys, enjoying time in Georgetown and catching up on sleep (her room darkening shades + bed situation are like magic for one’s sleep!) I’m now back in the city and gearing up for a whirlwind month of travel. (Anyone want to come assist with the packing/unpacking scenario in my apartment?! Seriously though…)
Whenever I’m having a “I couldn’t pick out an outfit if I tried right now” kind of morning, I always end up going for a skirt and a button down. It’s a sure fire way to feel put together without giving too much thought to an ensemble. This J.Crew skirt is from last Fall but is a great transitional piece for winter into Spring. J.Crew has so many great skirts right now, not to mention loads of good styling inspo. I particularly love this pleated mini. Paired with a bright top and a denim jacket? So cute. You can shop pieces from this look + some of my favorite J.Crew skirt / styling combos via the images below!
p.s. be sure to check back tomorrow when I’ll be sharing my first Grand Cayman travel diary! You can see what I packed right this way…
