New Year’s Eve is almost upon us and if you’ve got fun or fancy plans tomorrow then today’s post is for you! I’m sharing three ways to add an extra something something to your regular makeup routine and beauty look for the evening.
Add Glitter Eyeliner
At first glance glitter eyeliner may strike you as something you might have experimented with back in middle school but if done right, it can be so striking. Try using Urban Decay’s Heavy Metal eyeliner in gold. I like to swipe it over black eyeliner once you’ve done a subtly smokey eye. One swipe is enough. You can also try to layer it like in the photo above – so pretty!
Contour
No time like a holiday to really give yourself a bone structure for all those photos you’ll be taking! I personally don’t have much along the lines of check bones so I fake it, but of course. I recently became obsessed with this contour pencil. Swipe it on in three strokes on your cheek bones as you smile and then blend it with the Eco Tools Skin Perfecting Brush found in this darling gift set. (It features 4 brushes I love and use regularly and is under $20!) If you want even more definition, take the Cynthia Rowley bronzer stick and apply it from your ear, half way down your cheek bone. Then blend again with the Eco Tools Skin Perfecting Brush. When I do this duo I skip blush generally.
Illuminate
I wouldn’t recommend using an illuminator every day but for special occasions it is a great way to achieve that “lit from within” glow. Be careful when applying though as it is easy to go from “just enough” to “wayyyyy too much” very quickly. I recently started using the BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector in pressed form. I swipe it over my cheek bones and up towards my temples with the Eco Tools Full Powder Brush. I love the way it looks!
And there you have it! What are your NYE plans? I’m taking the low-key route (aka: champagne in PJs) this year so if you’re headed to a noteworthy soiree I hope you’ll find these tips helpful and bust plenty of moves on the dance floor while toasting 2015 and ushering in 2016. Have a safe & happy holiday tomorrow everyone!
