The Times this past week had designer Cynthia Rowley chronicle her week for the December 26th edition of the paper for their new “What I Wore” column and I was thrilled to see it as she is fast become one of my favorite designers since seeing her Spring 2011 show. I have a pair of her tights (one of few items in my price range, no less) as seen here and here.
Cynthia Rowley has a fast expanding brand with partnerships with Roxy and even Band-Aid this past year and Gossip Girl fans may remember the designer herself even had a cameo on this season of GG. I loved seeing her in one of the designs that walked the runway shortly there before that I was lucky enough to see in person.
The more I read about her, the more Cynthia inches up on my list of people I’d love to dine with. She constructed her first dress at the age of seven, is an avid collector of art and took her employees to the Trapeze School New York for their holiday party. All points of conversation you’d love to know more about, right? Me, too. The wardrobe she describes in the Times piece is a delicate mix of professional and punchy like cotton tees paired with an ostrich feather skirt and vintage jackets.
Her designs are flawlessly feminine and flirty (like this hand cut lace top– gorgeous) and always have an aspect of whimsy to them that I adore. Her collection from Spring 2011 had me swooning with pieces like this frilly & super girly skirt and these fun shorts and beautiful satin coat. The outfits I’d style for myself are never-ending when I see her pieces.
