Secret Garden

I get asked all the time “how long do you think you’ll be in New York?” and I’ve finally come up with an answer that seems appropriate.

“Until I no longer want to live here” I tell those inquiring. Rarely do people move to a new city with an expiration date in mind so I always find the question funny. I guess it’s mostly from people who can’t imagine themselves living in the Big Apple but after nearly seven years in New York, I can honestly still say I love living here.

One thing that never gets old to me? Visiting favorite nooks and crannies this city offers such as Central Park’s secret Shakespeare Garden. Nestled near Belvedere Castle this little gem is easy to miss but it is so special. It’s filled with beautiful plants and flowers mentioned in the works of the playwright for which it is named (as well as those featured in his own private garden in Stratford-upon-Avon.)

(Side note: I bought this fan for $2.50 off of Amazon after too many summer moments on the sweltering subway platforms. It has come in so handy! Best $2.50 I’ve ever spent.)

I highly recommend on your next visit to New York, waking up early and getting to Central Park for a stroll around. It is pure magic before the city is fully awake. It makes early morning shoots worthwhile and this particular morning Bekka and I both kept remarking how it never gets old.

This little eyelet dress was a buy-as-soon-as-I-spotted-it purchase for late summer heat and I plan to wear it on my upcoming trip overseas where it will be H-O-T! I bought it in a size 10 vs my usual 8 at H&M so it is a little roomy and perfect for steamier days.

A quick word on this bag as I’ve gotten a few additional questions about it after it started being seen all over the internet! When I bought it I thought it was pretty impractical but the more I saw it out and about the more it grew on me. I’ve ended up using it SO much this summer. I love it for casual summer nights and as mentioned previously, I kid you not, every time I take it out I get compliments on it. A man has even remarked “cool purse!” ha! Yes it is now very trendy but I have to say I adore how different it is than all my other bags.

Did you guys have a good weekend? I enjoyed the perfect New York weather with time spent outside, drinking rose al freso and having dinner with friends and then hopped a very early flight out to Colorado yesterday morning. I opted to change my office for the week 😉

Have a great start to your week & thanks so much for stopping by here!

Such a pretty dress! I agree that the hidden corners of Central Park are the best, and it’s totally worth the extra effort to find them.
