Here Come The Holidays (+ A Giveaway)

A Holiday Ready Velvet Romper I Meghan Donovan of wit & whimsy

With it being November 1st today you know what that means…’Tis the holiday season! If you know me, you know I love the holidays. I get giddy as they roll around every year and I treasure doing my favorite pasttimes in New York and counting down to lots of family time in Colorado.

A Holiday Ready Velvet Romper I Meghan Donovan of wit & whimsy

This year I wanted to amp up the holidays on the site a bit so I’ve created a little holiday hub that will be a go-to resource for all holiday content here on wit & whimsy. You can find it on the homepage’s top menu in red font. When you hover over it you’ll see two categories “Get Inspired” and “Get Gifting”.

wit & whimsy Holidays

Get Inspired will be all my posts related to holiday content (inclusive of gift guides) and Get Gifting is a brand new Holiday Shop broken down by category that’ll have exclusive gift finds you won’t see elsewhere. (I particularly love the Home & Hostess category as it has loads of great decor!) The shop’s categories are just getting started and I’ll be updating them weekly so be sure to keep checking back. I’m so happy to have this key little hub to hopefully make it a seamless reader experience as you look for my recommendations this season.

In addition to the eight gift guides I plan to publish this year (you can expect to see a new one every Wednesday starting next week through the end of the year) and the new Holiday Shop, I’m also pinning gifts and holiday inspiration per usual over on a variety of Pinterest boards. I also have posts planned for what to wear during the holiday season, holiday beauty and a very special initiative I’m planning for early December that I can’t wait to share with you guys. Merry, merry!!

A little housekeeping note: last year I pushed the Weekly Roundups to Saturdays to accommodate the additional content this time of year but given how much you all have told me you love starting your Fridays with the Weekly Roundup, I’m going to keep them on Fridays this year! That being said, you can now expect to see an occasional weekend post through now and the end of the year. If you don’t want to miss any posts you can sign up to get them in your inbox every time one publishes.

Also I’m excited to kick off this holiday season with a giveaway to jumpstart your shopping! I’ll be giving away a $250 American Express gift card to one lucky reader! To enter, follow me on Instagram and comment below what you are most looking forward to this holiday season! (Be sure to include your Instagram handle in your comment as well!) I’ll randomly select a winner next week and notify them by email!

I am so excited for the next two months and hope you’ll enjoy everything coming to you this year as part of wit & whimsy. And, do you have a special holiday-related content request or question? Drop me a line here.

Thank you for following along and here’s to a 2018 holiday season full of blessings, magic and joy.

  1. I love the holidays so much, starting with Thanksgiving- celebrating what we’re thankful for surrounded by friends and family (and good food); leading into Christmas when the whole city feels so magical. The first snow fall is always the most beautiful! ?? @lechicago

  2. I can’t wait to decorate the house while listening to Christmas carols 🙂 Thanks for a fun giveaway!! IG handle is @jill.kristin

  3. Every year I see The Nutcracker at Lincoln Center, and I just bought my tickets for mid December. It’s so beautiful and magical! ? @kristenenieves

  6. Hi Meghan, so excited to see your holiday content! I am most looking forward to my trip to London, Oxford, and Paris next month!

  7. I’m so excited for our first married Christmas, and actually the first Christmas my husband and I will be able to spend together! He’s a nurse so he normally ends up working, but not this year! And we’re staying in town to have Christmas with my parents, so that will also be fun. Getting our first Christmas tree, doing our family Secret Santa gift exchange (I got my dad, who is super hard to buy for! also now it’s not a secret, LOL), and baking tons of cookies to take to the hospital. Also ready for the cool weather to stay down here in Texas! Can’t wait for all your gifting and outfit ideas! 🙂 @mks43

  8. I live far away from my (large) family, so the holidays with them mean so much to me. We host Thanksgiving at our house In Austin, and invite all of our friends who aren’t going away for the holidays. It’s the one day of the year where my very introverted self declares the more the merrier! Plus this year one of my sisters and a nephew are coming, making it extra special. And then Christmas is always back in Virginia with my menagerie of parents, siblings, and nieces and nephews. I can’t wait. @marciainger

  9. I’ll be in NYC for the first time for Thanksgiving this year! Very excited to kickoff the holiday season in one of the most festive places! @katescott10

  10. I love being around the city when it’s noticeably more empty because everyone else is on vacation. So peaceful! @rwlevy

  11. I’m looking forward to spending time in California with my family, eating swedish meatballs, and letting my DC-based pup run around the beach! @_dizzymslizzy_

  12. I’m most looking forward to celebrating with my niece and new nephew! Having little kids in the family makes the holidays more fun again 🙂

  13. I’m most looking forward to holiday decorations! I love decorating for the holidays and seeing everyone else’s designs/decor. @_monicapearl
