For the first year I worked for myself I reveled in working from home. I didn’t get easily distracted, I was saving money by cooking my meals at home and I was good at getting up, settling into my desk and getting to work. But as my businesses started to grow and evolve, so did my needs which landed me as a member of The Wing starting this past February.
I will often post snaps on InstaStories from The Wing so I thought I’d share a more proper look at it in today’s post! I was first drawn to the space as they began to expand in NYC. Their original location is situated in the Flatiron but last Fall they expanded to Soho and then opened down the street from me in DUMBO, Brooklyn this past February (where I shot these photos.) As I don’t have a regular commute my days find me in each of these neighborhoods regularly so it has been so nice to have home bases when I need them. I work from The Wing usually 2-3 days a week either partial or full days and hold a lot of my meetings there. The Wing is an all-female co-working space so I’ve found it incredibly inspiring to be surrounded by so many women doing cool, interesting and unique things. The energy in the spaces is definitely contagious.
Why else did I join? Small things like the ability to rent a conference room to meet with clients, the ability to easily print some things when needed and the slew of events they put on each week at each location. I’ve loved meeting new people through my work at The Wing and through attendance at their events. (The events range from celebrities and politicians speaking to panels on culturally relevant moments in time to trivia nights.)
The Wing is expanding rapidly and will soon be open in Chicago, LA, San Francisco, Toronto, London and more (and recently opened in Washington DC) so if you’re interested in applying, you can check out their site.
p.s. how my life has changed since being self employed & why I decided to make the change.

This post is so cute! I’ve been dying to check out the wing, so I’m loving getting a peek inside! It seems like the perfect co working space and I love that you can go to all the different locations!

So glad you liked it! They really do such a nice job with the spaces. Come visit sometime if you want 🙂
Is that a work area behind a bookcase? I love that. And you look so cute in that photo.
Yes! They are little rooms for conference calls! And thank you 🙂
Would you recommend The Wing for occasional work? I have an office in the city but I work at a startup so sometimes the hours can be late and include weekends depending on my projects so a change of scenery could be nice! I’m also still new to meeting people in NYC and the events sound good. Would it be worth it if I don’t plan to fully work from there?
Sounds like the reasons you’re interested in joining would definitely make it worthwhile! I don’t go to a ton of the events as I really use it as a work space but I do think the events are a great way to meet people! Also the evenings and weekends are so nice and mellow at the spaces so can be really productive!
