With no travel on my calendar this month I have been reveling in my weekends at home the past few weeks. When I moved to Brooklyn, I finally understood why my BK friends always preferred to stay in the borough vs. traveling into Manhattan.
Spring Weekends in Brooklyn
There’s something really special about being in Brooklyn on the weekends that’s hard to put into words. It’s so mellow and casual and laid back. There’s a zen flow to the way everyone seems to operate and I have really loved spending time in my neighborhood of Brooklyn Heights but also Dumbo and Prospect Heights. My friend and I have been walking the 3.5 mile loop of Prospect Park on Sunday mornings and I’ve been taking advantage of all the beautiful views in the walk from Brooklyn Heights down to Dumbo. I’ve also been prioritizing time at home to read and cook, going to my favorite hot yoga class on Sunday nights, spending as much time outdoors as possible and visiting some of my neighborhood favorites.
While I love my nook of Brooklyn, the borough has so much more to offer and I’m hopeful to start ticking through some spots and neighborhoods on my list in the coming months!

OBSESSED with Brooklyn. It’s becoming my fav very quickly!
YAY!
We have a 16yo French exchange student with us for April and I used your ideas about things to do in Brooklyn when we brought her into The City for weekend. I surprisingly won major “cool mom” points (not an easy feat!) for getting the two sleepy teens up to be on the Brooklyn Bridge at sunrise for Golden Hour on an empty bridge. Also per your suggestions, we Had a great breakfast at Bluestone and walked/snapped tons of pics from DUMBO to the Heights along the waterfront (many of the same pics as above). Thanks for your spot on picks for Brooklyn faves – we have family whom we regularly visit in Cobble Hill but I get much better ideas from Wit & Whimsy
This message just made my day, Patricia! Thank you so much for it and I’m so glad you had a good visit to BK!!
I lived in Carroll Gardens for awhile many years ago. I loved just walking the streets and looking at the pretty brownstones all with gardens out front. So many great spots in Brooklyn! I’d love to get back there some day with my family. I’m glad you are experiencing it! and enjoying it so much! Totally different vibe from the City! (in a neat way). Your posts bring me back to some great memories!
Caroll Gardens is beautiful, yes! I’m so glad you enjoy my BK posts!
