Ménerbes, Lourmarin and Ansouis in Provence

Ménerbes and Lourmarin were without a doubt two of my favorite villages of those we visited while in Provence. Ansouis, just nearby Lourmarin was a sleepy village perfect for getting lost.

The markets of Provence were easily a highlight for our days spent wandering the villages. It was so fun to buy treats to eat later back at our Airbnb. Cheese, fruit, baguette- my mouth is watering remembering it all!  It was actually our Airbnb hosts that recommended the market in Lourmarin which ended up being one of the best we visited! If I hadn’t worried about my luggage’s weight, I would have stocked up on jams and honey.

After the market we wandered the village and then stopped for delicious salads and rose wine at Nooni. This J.Crew jumpsuit was one of my favorite things that I wore on my trip. It was so comfortable and easy to throw on. I’m wearing a size 6.

Not far from Lourmarin is the beautiful hotel Domaine de Fontenille which also boasts a winery across the road. We stopped in to do a bit of wine tasting, buy a bottle and then wandered the hotel’s beautiful property.

Can you believe the interiors of this hotel? I absolutely loved the wallpaper in this bar room! The restaurant outdoors looked beautiful, too and if I were to go back, I’d definitely look to take in a meal here.

In the same region, was the oh so small town of Ansouis. We originally went to seek out their morning market but it started later in the morning. (The markets throughout Provence all happen on different days. The internet has varying degrees of accurate information so I would recommend asking your host or hotel for the most accurate schedule!) We took the opportunity to wander Ansouis though and enjoyed its quaint and quiet streets regardless. They have a beautiful 12th century church that is worth popping into.

Ménerbes was one of the most picturesque villages we visited and we spent a lovely afternoon wandering the streets and then having an aperitif at Bistro le 5 which boasts amazing views. (The service left a lot to be desired but the views made up for it.) Up the road from Bistro le 5, we had dinner outside at Le Galoubet which offered an excellent prix fixe for 28 euros. We dined on goat cheese salad (one of my favorite French dishes), beef stew and creme brulee. It was so good and lovely to watch the town come alive at dinner time!

The jasmine was in bloom all over Provence and it filled the air with the most fragrant scent that I couldn’t get enough of. I would love to have this all over my home’s entrance!
