As I sit here typing this post, it truly feels like I just pressed “Publish” on my 30 Things I Learned by 30 post yesterday. I remember shooting those photos so vividly as I had been looking 30 straight in the eye for many months. Today, I’m celebrating 31 and reflecting on everything that happened in my 30th year.

There were some truly defining moments in the past year and I can now confidently tell people it was one of the best years I’ve had. I lived another year in a city that I truly feel lucky every day to call home. I celebrated friends’ weddings, babies and personal accomplishments. I thought critically about where I wanted my next decade to head and what I wanted it to be filled with (fulfillment, loved ones, seizing opportunities.) I prioritized time with family and made memories with trips and by saying “yes” more. I focused on my health and overall wellness in efforts to feel better every day. And I began putting steps in place to get to where I wanted to be (now that I had determined where “where” was.)

31 will be a year of much change no doubt and I’m excited to see where it takes me. I’m one of those people who welcomes change with equal parts excitement and fear but for today I’m going to put aside any fear and just focus on the excitement part. Now, that is worth celebrating!

Happy Birthday! 30’s are definitely better than 20’s, once you get over the fact you’re in a new decade. I’m 33 & love feeling more settled & comfortable in my own skin. I think your 20’s are now about figuring out your adult life, with a lot of change happening in terms of career, moving around, possibly marriage, etc.

So do not miss being in that decade!
