I have always had somewhat of a preppy side to my personal style therefore when I spot pieces like this dress with the perfect ruffle detailing at the sleeves and the collar…I’m SOLD, immediately!
In college I went through a heavy preppy phase. I had a bunch of polo shirts in a multitude of colors and even threw a few “polos & pearls” parties – WOAH (insert eye roll here!) While studying abroad in Paris I used to wear this neon green polo shirt and my friend Kristen used to remark how I stuck out like a true American – ha! That phase of my style makes me laugh nowadays.
That being said, I still have a soft spot for some more feminine, preppy pieces and you know I love a good ruffle or bow moment. While I wouldn’t define my personal style as preppy anymore I do always love feminine pieces. I’ve spotted some good ones recently in addition to this dress such as this top, this top (so similar to my top from this post!), this sweater, this top, this top, this sweater, this blouse, this blouse and this sweater.
It’s always so funny to remember certain style phases or pieces that defined us. And now I’m old enough that when I see things like scrunchies coming back I can’t help but think Whhhhhat!? But, as my mom always told me growing up: what goes around always comes back around. Mothers are really always right, aren’t they!?
Dress // Boots (less expensive look alikes) // Bag (one of my favorite things of 2017!)
I love the sleeve details of this dress! The snow makes the prettiest backdrop. I didn’t even think to go out in the snow last week to take pictures!
Kendal // Life With Kendal
It started snowing just as we were shooting and all I can say is BRRRR haha!!
I love that dress. The thing about preppy style is that it’s really based on quality, classic pieces that will last, and will never go out of style. I am all for mixing in current fashion, and I love getting creative and putting my own stamp on things, but the great thing about preppy basics is that you can always wear them and be assured you will look good and look appropriate. Your outfit is a perfect example … that great dress that you could probably wear decades from now, combined with those over-the-knee boots that may or may not be in style years down the road. 🙂
Thank you, Marcia and love your thinking around classic pieces because it is true! But please god let these boots never be out of style because they are my favorites haha!
This feels very Blair Waldorf and I am here for it.
THE COMPLIMENT OF ALL COMPLIMENTS! Thanks love!
